My prediction is peaking up to its utmost consistency.
From $79 ending cost the other day now to a record breaking $100 (given that the steelbook was recently out for merely 2months) Quote:

If there is another Hurt Locker release I don't think it will effect the US release demand at all. There are several SBs that had re-releases that the original is still the more valued like Iron Man and Rambo.
I'm guessing Disney will not release SBs of any title until sometime around Christmas then we will get another 12 weeks of Disney type release. The titles will probably be Princess and the Frog, Toy Story 1,2&3, Burton's Alice, National Treasure 1&2, Fantasia, Chronicles of Narnia 1,2&3, Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo & Dumbo. The last 3 dependant on them actually seeing a US release this year. If they aren't you might see Bolt or G-Force steel. |

I think out of all the SteelBook releases we've seen across the globe, the only one I can think of that even has a chance at catching up to the orignal Rambo or the FS Iron Man (and I think the FS IAL is still commanding high prices, but I seem to remember it falling in value recently), is the US Hurt Locker SteelBook. The SteelBook sold out in hours, not days in my area (4 Best Buy stores), and the movie was a virtual unknown at the time of it's release to the general public. Now that it has won Best Picture, there is alot of buzz, and that can only mean that the demand for the SteelBook will rise. I seem to remember prices dropping on the original Rambo when the re-release came out, but I don't know if the price for it rose back up or not 'cos I don't follow Rambo that much. I'm sure if Hurt Locker is released elsewhere in a proper G2 sized case, that demand for the US release will suffer. The question is not if it will, but how much it will. The only ones that would want the G1 after a G2 release will be the OCDr's and the die hard Hurt Locker fans. I guess there is a chance, since it is a unique release with it being a G1 dvd sized SteelBook with the blu-ray logo on it, but I don't know if that by itself would keep it's value high or continue to be sought after by many when there would be an alternative that is much more appealing to the blu-ray SteelBook crowd. I could see demand still remaining high because the artwork might be nicer, the numbers might be lower, and the G1 size might not hurt it that much. I could also see demand dropping down to nothing if a G2 SteelBook is released and if the artwork is re-used or the artwork is nicer than the US version. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what comes out, and what happens to Hurt Locker as a result.
As for my predictions (the ones I'm mainly interested in seeing): Alice in Wonderland (Burton) Iron Man 2 Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Tron Tron Legacy Finding Nemo (and all future Disney/Pixar and Disney Diamond Editions) Pirates of the Carribbean 4 (they better!) Underworld 4 oh and Hurt Locker (from somewhere, or maybe a new US/Canada release, G2 of course). Catalog titles I'd like to see: The Matrix The Matrix Reloaded The Animatrix (or pair it with Reloaded, but I'd like to see this one by itself with some killer artwork) The Matrix Revolutions Batman Batman Returns (okay, maybe the other 2 that I shall not name here, but I can live without them) Spider-man Spider-man 2 (or 2.1 or both on one disc) Transformers Underworld Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Braveheart Passion of the Christ The Crow Kill Bill I and II, or The Whole Bloody Affair Edition (US/Canada release-No forced French subs, woohoo!) Pulp Fiction (see Kill Bill) Jackie Brown (see Kill Bill) Reservoir Dogs (to complete the QT Collection) Last edited by mr. b; 03-10-2010 at 05:23 PM. |

![]() The Iron Man 2 steelbook will be out this year, check the price blow off on both the Canadian and German original release. I should have kept my German one, I sold it in a rush fearing a re-release! The Canadian Iron Man will become the new John Rambo and even more. ![]() Cheers, Gui. |

![]() But getting a dented steelbook like buying a Toyota after it accelerated out-of-control and hit a wall or tree. It's still a Toyota, but honestly, you won't be able to drive it anymore. ![]() At least you can still play the BD even if the steelbook case is dented. ![]() [Show spoiler]
