$11.99 on Amazon.

Kinda scary how a movie can be a BD-50 AVC at ~42Mbps and still look bad...

Okay folks I picked this up at BB today for $12. I must be seeing a bunch of craptacular bluray catalog titles because I thought it looked pretty damned good! Excellent color, contrast, black levels and detail. It is a bit soft in patches but compared to the crap most studios have been putting out lately it looks very, very good. My only nitpick is it can be a bit soft at times but only slightly so. Much of the picture is razor sharp. Simply put this is one of the best catalog transfers I have seen in a while.

After watching Clash of the Titans, Grumpier Old Men, Spies Like Us which all were simply subpar for the format I finally get a title that looks like a bluray disc should. Don't get me wrong I remember last year when I got Out Of Time which was a MGM title transfered back in 2007 on MPEG-2 released in 2009. It was a very mediocre upgrade at best from the dvd and was not that impressive like the titles I listed above. Well it seems they ditched the MPEG-2 thank god finally went AVC on all titles. I still dislike the fact they are leaving the extras on the included dvd and the eco friendly cases. All in all the best $12 I have spent in a while.

This movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. I walked into best buy today and saw this for 11.99. Bought it right on the spot. Had know idea it was even being released in Blu yet. I haven't watched it all yet, but the few scenes I looked through were pretty good. Great buy to own one of my fav movies for 12 bucks. I just saw Clash of the Titans this weekend for 16 bucks and I have nothing to show for it.

It looks way better than the Lord of the Rings set. Remember McTiernan old movies were a bit soft focus that's due to the stock, lenses and lighting he used (these are true cinemascope films). It's not mind blowing, Avatar like clarity, of course, but it's in the very good range.

UPS delivering this title today from Amazon. I paid $15.99, but since they dropped the price yesterday to $11.99, I should be getting a $4.00 credit. No sales tax and free shipping with Prime. Great deal!

No, the only relation is they both star Pierce Brosnan and they both have him looking nearly identical on both covers.

You're only about a decade late noticing that both movies have generic head shots of two actors (one of whom is Pierce Brosnan in both cases) placed against a yellow-orange-ish background. The Thomas Crown Affair was released in 1999 and The Tailor of Panama in 2001. No, they are not related, aside from starring Brosnan.

The Tailor of Panama is based on a spy novel by John le Carre in which Brosnan plays a disgraced MI-6 agent banished to Panama just before the U.S. returned the canal to the Panamanians. He exploits the fanciful yarn spun by a British ex-pat tailor, Harry Pendel (Geoffrey Rush) to his own gain.

The Thomas Crown Affair is a re-make of a Steve McQueen movie in which Thomas Crown (Brosnan) is a filthy rich guy who has taken up theft as a hobby and makes off with a Monet painting ("San Giorgio Maggiore by Twilight") from the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. The gallery hires an investigator (Rene Russo) to find the painting, and the two have a fairly sensuous cat-and-mouse game of mutual pursuit.

I love them both. It really comes down to: would you rather watch Pierce Brosnan exploit Geoffrey Rush or would you rather watch Rene Russo try to nail Pierce Brosnan for the crime he committed...while resisting his charm? (Hint: if you plan on watching this with a woman, she's much likelier to enjoy Thomas Crown.)

I would recommend that if you see Tailor of Panama, that you read the original John le Carre novel. There are a lot of insights to different characters that aren't really carried over into the movie, and I think you get a much fuller experience if you see and read both versions.

Thomas Crown is by FAR the better film. I wanted to like Tailor of Panama, but I was simply bored to death watching it.

There is a very positive review of new The Thomas Crown Affair at hometheaterforum.com in the blu-ray forum. I ordered this movie from Amazon upgrading from my SD DVD. It's actually one of my favorite movies. I hope it receives a favorable review here, as well.

Mind providing a link to that review?

I'm thinking of adding this. I need a film with a decent sex scene to my collection. It's obligatory. =D

Then this would be a stellar choice!

...Mr & Mrs Smith would also fit the bill

No nudity in that. Original Sin perhaps? Haven't watched that.
