Just noticed this was available. Anyone know if the same as the French version, Same features etc... Can't seem to find any info on it other than basic specs.

The Australian version has a Making Of, Deleted Scenes and a trailer. It's Studo Canal via Universal so I assume it's the same as the French version. It's marked Region A and B.

Its a direct port of the French disc and it plays fine on Region A players.

So is this region free or not? We have 2 different accounts regarding region coding. Also, any chance to see a caps-a-holic link with screen cap comparisons between the French Studio Canal release and the Umbrella release?

None that I can find yet, but the French Blu-ray looks similar to, if not the same as, our release. Quite grainy but watchable. It certainly needs a new transfer.

I have both releases and in motion there is an obvious difference between the two, which comes down to the encoding (AVC vs the European's older VC-1, which dates back to the HD-DVD format era). They look like they're from the same source, but the Umbrella release has less noise, which comes across when you do an A/B comparison. Definitely agree it could use a new transfer, but the Umbrella is the best release out there and who knows if it'll be remastered again.

Thanks for the caps-a-holic link. I guess now we need someone with the Aussie version to post some screen caps so we can get an idea of what the better encode truly looks like.

New release of this movie just came out 12 days ago in germany. Mpeg4 AVC encode and DTS MA2.0 doesnt look like any extras but maybe a new scan. I just ordered it and should get it in about a week. Will keep you posted. Region B locked though. Thank god for region free players

What's the deal with the audio sync issue I've heard of? I can find posts where people talk about it being present on the French disc, and most of the other releases (Japan, first Australian, etc.) are the exact same disc, so wouldn't those have the audio sync issue as well? Do the 2nd Australian release from Umbrella and the 2017 German release fix that issue?

I got the Japanese version from eBay. Not cheap though.
