I must say that after watching that I think I agree with the Keaton AS Batman thing. Though much of it has to do witht the better suit. But there is something more "Batman" about him. Of course I agree with the whole "who is the better Joker". But I disagreed with everthing else. The plot holes in the original Batman are all over the place and overall the plot is just silly. Alfred better in Batman??? c'mon. The leading ladies? It's a draw. Dark Knights Gordon by a long shot of course and dark knight had Harvey Dent/Two Face. And who gives a Flip about Bob?? But I thought the points were interesting. As I said before in my "epic" post. I still enjoy Batman but overall I have never felt it was a very good movie. I mostly blame Burton. As I do with most his films. |

![]() It's just so hard not compare and say which is better because both are so different. But I think the whole point being made that both films represent the times they were made pretty much sums up the whole "exploring the universe and visions of both directors to the movie." |

![]() I thought about starting the thread because of how I felt after watching Returns. I noticed a lot of differences, and different levels of darkness implemented in the movies depending on the director's ability to tell the story. ![]() |

![]() Batmobile vs Tankmobile Both vehicles are awesome to say the least. I'll start with Burton's car. I love that it looks like a car that would be in the comics with its own variations. It has all kinds of gears and gadgets like collapsing to fit through narrow alleys. It is a really cool car that fits Batman and even looks like a bat ... kind of.The thing I liked about Nolan's tank was how well it fit into his movie. A lot of Batman's gear came from R&D so it makes sense he would get his transport from there. I like how powerful it seems. Burton's car does not look like it has a lot of power IMO. I was a little disappointed that he uses the same car in TDK. I was hoping it would be his first car and that it would adapt and become more like the Batmobile. Maybe it will in the third film [Show spoiler] .Both cars are freaking awesome but I would probably want the tank. You go "flying on rooftops" with the tank. Of course, the other can drive on walls if you go by Batman Forever ![]() |

For music and atmosphere I'd have to give it to Burton's films, especially Batman Returns. I also prefer Burton's handling of the humor in the Batman movies over Nolan's.
Though Bale is a better actor, and had a lot more to work with there's a certain level of charisma that Keaton had that Bale is lacking. That being said, Nolan's Batman is closer to the comic. I can't see Batman using guns as often (if ever) as the Burton version did (guns on the batmobile, guns on the batwing). With Nolan's film they were careful to make the point that there were some lines that Batman didn't cross, but Burton, not willing to compromise his vision for the sake of character continuity, has Batman blow up the circus strongman in Returns (though one of my favorite moments, its not something that the real Batman would ever do) and lights another man on fire. Certain aspects of the franchise overall are handled better by one director or the other. Nolan's films have a better sense of coherence, better acting and actually maintain some continuity with the comics. Burton's films have a sense of atmosphere, better music (though I love the score for The Dark Knight it doesn't touch the haunting score in the opening of Returns) and a more charismatic man in the lead. |

In terms of how they fight their enemies, Nolan's Batman is way better, in my opinion. He's intimidating, but he's also stealthy. He gets in a few good shots and then dips out, and he's all about fighting dirty, where his opponents can't even see him half the time. He also packs extra, hidden weapons, like the projectiles in his gauntlets, just in case. That's how Batman should fight.
Burton's Batman, on the other hand, crashes through a skylight and announces his presences, and he also walks straight up to Catwoman and gets shot. That's lame. |
