UK law is to blame, not the BBFC.

What's the problem, do you need that extra 2m 54s of rape and sexual violence to get off on this movie? What's included in the movie already just doesn't do it for you, no?

Sick, sick, sick.

OK, I feel your pain, but seriously, are you suggesting cuts made to "I Spit on Your Grave" are "stupid"? The BBFC have waived a lot of cuts to this recently, but they've gone as fas as they could go under guidelines. I'm afraid ISOYG strays to close to the line when it comes to the old when does rape become sexual entertainment argument.

On the flip side, you could like members of the "Cult Labs" forum did with "Inferno", petition the BBFC to reconsider their ruling, but I think they've let through as much as they conceivably could.

The more rape and sexual violence, the better. If you don't like that kind of stuff, a movie like I Spit On Your Grave should NOT be in your collection.

But seriously; when you buy a movie... don't you want to see it the way the director intended? Censoring a movie is a negative. No matter what.

Actually I'm partially in agreement with you. I don't believe film censorship works for the purpose it was intended, on the whole.

Saying that, you have to have "guidelines" otherwise we'd end up with a situation where douche bags like Eli Roth would just enter into a male genitalia waving competition to see who could make the most disgusting, unwatchable movies.

As it happens, "I Spit on Your Grave" is such a silly movie it's ironically gained it's popularity through notoriety!

I would like to agree with you, but I think I'm more for the "if you don't like it, don't watch it" philosophy. As long as we're talking actors and SFX, I really don't see any need for limits or guidelines.

99 times out of 100 I'd be in total agreement with your good-self, but turning a blind eye is often the same as sweeping something under the carpet.

For example, checkout "A Serbian Film" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Serbian_Film) - it's strayed a little far for me (incest, paedophilia, rape - you name it!), without limits could you image how bad it could have been?

I love the old exploitations movies and the boundaries they pushed, but there has to be an end point.

Yeah, OK. Let's say we agree on this. I see your point, and I'm willing to go ahead with this. But let's keep cencorship and guidelines as two separate things, OK?

And thanks for the tip about A Serbian Film. Hadn't heard of this, but will sure check it out. Sounds like an unpleasant movie for sure...

I don't think it's sick to want an uncut copy of the film. And my wife agrees with me. Almost 3 mins of cuts is incredibly excessive. Have you seen this film? I think Irreversible is far more disturbing but apparently the BBFC didn't mind that time around. So how is UK law merely to blame, as the BBFC often seems to make conflicting decisions according to it's own internal prejudice as to whether a film is a piece of art or not. The BBFC even trimmed Tombs of the Blind Dead and imho, that's tame as hell...

I watched the full uncut version of the movie from the us DVD and See no reason why this movie should not be released uncut with an 18 cert in the UK.

^ Total agreement.

It's '18' certainly but not not censorship necessary. Absolutely terrible, and very bizarrely prejudiced, BBFC decision....

It's funny that they can pass Salo uncut, but not this. I guess they feel people are more likely to imitate this movie in real life?

Salo is made by a well known and respected director, and it's more of an "art film". I Spit on Your Grave is plain and simple exploitation. My guess is this is the reason for an uncut Salo, and a cut I Spit on Your Grave.

This is how I see it too

I think a lot of it is purely down to "tone"; plus I can't believe people can't see why "Irréversible" is uncut and not "I Spit on Your Grave". Are you serious?
