I can't say that I love the packaging (but if you don't use the digital copy discs, you'll find it much easier to just use the actual BD's in those slots) but I still feel like I got my money's worth with the set and I love 2 of the 3 movies (I spoke my opinion on BTTF2 on that thread last night) and I feel ultimately satisfied despite not liking the way Universal packaged it.
Considering Universal took seven years to separate the movies on DVD, I wouldn't hold my breath if expecting to just get the first movie on BD alone. |

Regular Amarays of the 3 films for me, quick please!!! I hate thick boxes when my storage capacity is low and thick boxes stand out too much between my alpha organized discs.

I don't see any problem not wanting substandard (or just non-matching) packaging. Considering the mania that appears here over things like slipcovers, steelbooks, eco-cases, packaging imperfections, disc hubs, locking tabs, and so on...waiting for separate releases is relatively normal ![]() |

What is the difference in the packaging of the actual trilogy? Not counting the tin itself and all the extra stuff included.

I don't hate the sequels but I don't like them as much as the first one. I own the trilogy on DVD and I don't watch the sequels as much as the first one, so I'll probably wait for the individual release of the first movie. However, at the right price, under $30, I'm willing to buy the box set.

I actually have both the US set and the UK tin (I'm a die-hard BTTF fan, so I got both). The UK set does not come with digital copies, and the Blu-Ray discs are in normal disc hubs. The art work on the inner fold-out digi-pack is different as well (when it is unfolded, there is a really cool mural on the other side of the package opposite the one with the discs). The only thing that I hate about the UK set (and all UK movie releases in general) are the stupid ratings logos they put everywhere. Aside from that, I personally like the UK packaging more than the US packaging, from both a functional and cosmetic stand-point. The UK discs also work just fine in US Blu-Ray players. The extra features are identical as far as I can tell. The only difference that I've noticed between the disc contents of the two versions is that the UK version first takes you to a menu where you select the language you want it to be in, there is some kind of different copyright warning, and there's a silly little ad that runs for a couple of seconds that says "By purchasing this Blu-Ray disc, you have supported your local television and film industry. THANK YOU". Once you get past that stuff, everything seems to be identical to the US discs. The extra features work just fine and everything. So, if the reason you don't want the US set is because of the trays that the discs are in, the UK set is a way to go. And you can save money by just getting the stand-alone set and not getting the tin (though the tin does have some really cool stuff if you are a fan). I just made my custom packaging mainly because I really wanted the movies in separate Blu-Ray cases in a normal slip-box for the box-set feel and look. I was actually working on that box when I found out that the US set came in a fold-out digipack set, but before I knew about the crappy disc holders. There always Kinkos (or other similar places). |

If you're waiting for seperate releases it could be much longer than that. It took Universal seven years after releasing the DVD box set to release the BTTF titles seperately on DVD.
