I had a simillar read on it. If you and I are right, then CES 2008 is going to be something to watch very closely for probably all kinds of developments.

Everyone will be coming off the holiday sales season and I think people will really start to get an idea of what's what after that and decide accordingly.

If WB are looking at Q4 sales for both formats will they at least give BD a fighting chance by releaseing Batman Returns and the Matrix films before Christmas. You know they would sell by the bucket load. They would find it difficult to convince the beancounters that dumping BD would be a good idea if they sold 1000's copies of those titles before Christmas.

I suspect their test will be how well the Harry Potter boxset and individual films will sell on both formats.

300 has to be a benchmark for them as is.

I guarantee you the HP movies are the other benchmark, of sorts. (Along with everything else, but those are the big ones.)

This is assuming no one takes any bribes or anything.

As I said in my earlier posts, I have already started doing that. Probably next on my list would be Goodfellas and Last Samurai.

I agree.

I am torn a little by this - I have been somewhat boycotting Warner discs since I would rather wait for them to be done right and avoid the double dip. Now I feel like I should buy more to support the cause.

BTW, this should help with your need:

Just scroll down to the bottom to see the selection with LPCM and TrueHD.

I agree with this 110%.

I think people with a limited "budget" would be making a mistake going out to Amazon and buying WB titles like Lethal Weapon, Training Day, etc. Those won't even be a blip on the radar.

Instead, go out and buy all 5 Harry Potters. This is going to be a huge benchmark.

In addition, pick up the other newer WB releases from 4Q, such as the just announced T3, Twister, Shawshank, etc, etc. Go pick up Oceans 11/12/&13. Go pick up Troy Director's Cut, etc. That's where you'll get the most bang for your buck in terms of WB noticing the sales.

I TOTALLY agree, I know Warner will look at the numbers of all studios combined, but they will concentrate the most on their own numbers, their own releases and which side is buying more! SPREAD the WORD to all your friends/family with bluray players. Buy Warner movies, BUY BUY BUY! BluMarket says WARNER is a Strong BUY, Paramount however, is a STRONG "GET RID OF IT" SELL!!!

Remember guys, Warner is having a 25% off sale on BDs on their website.

http://whv.warnerbros.com/WHVPORTAL/...atType=Blu-ray

Use coupon code JLBM to get your 25% off your order. Orders over $60 have free shipping. This includes preorders, even though some of their newest preorder announcements (Harry Potter, etc) aren't on there yet.

Support Warner and all BD studios!

Warner 13.11% lossless

Compared to:

Sony - 100% lossless - 97.3% LPCM

Disney - 100% lossless - 100% LPCM

Fox - 100% lossless - 100% DTS-HD MA

Yeah, Warner has been stiffin us on the audio, but quite honestly, only Sony and Disney have been truly dishing out the goods...

No one can use the Fox loseless yet, so can we really at this point consider it loseless??

I hope to God Sony releases a ps3 firmware that lets it decode DTSMA, I need the Die Hards in full effect.

They are pondering a switch in policy. key point

We suspect due to Current market conditions that It would be to Blu.

They want to do whats prudent and wait till after the holidays feeding frenzy.

The Total Hi Def Disc must be hitting some developmental (cost) snags.

They turned down the hddvd offer in August. Nickerson wanted WB to go hddvd exclusive, Wb felt differently. This is why Nickerson left WB.

All this spells is good news for BD.

The sales are there, the players are here and a lot more on the way, the studios are there, the retail segment is turning Blu and the consumers seem to be really leaning towards Blu-ray.

We have credible rumors that Universal is or has considered a change in policy.

This only leads to one proper decision.....Blu-ray exclusivity.

War over and everyone can get on with their lives and enjoy Hi-Def in its best format of today and tomorrow!!!!
