It looks like this is no longer available. Do Best Buy exclusives every come back into print?

Hard to say.

However, the exact same disc (albeit in French packaging) is available from Amazon France for about $22 shipped. It's region-free per the back cover, so playback won't be a problem.

It was only a Best Buy exclusive at the time of release. It went into general release a few months later. I speculate that it's been temporary made OOP in order to time a re-release later this year when the new Bond film comes out.

If you are near a Half-Price books store, I've noticed several have stocked multiple copies all at around US$10.

Question

Tracy Reed is best known for playing Gen. Turgidson's mistress, Miss Scott, in DR. STRANGELOVE.
Reed also played the Fang leader in the original CASINO ROYALE.

Can anyone confirm that Reed also played a second role in CASINO ROYALE as the woman in the pink dress with her hair covered (standing behind Orson Welles and next to Jacqueline Bisset, who also played a second role as Miss Goodthighs)?

Tracy Reed played the Fang leader in the original CASINO ROYALE.

Seem like this should be a prime candidate for reissue by Shout Factory, no? Really want to get a hold of this, but it’s not worth the current going price.

Not if EON has anything to say about a reissue. The German disc is cheap for the time being:

MGM has virtually licensed every title they ever released themselves on BD but neither of the two unofficial Bonds has been licensed in spite of being out of print. I think the decision comes from MGM, as NSNA is not owned by Eon (CR '67 is).

I don't see MGM reissuing it themselves any time soon as they barely issue anything these days and I doubt there's much demand for these titles outside Bond completists.

Why would EON have a say? I was unaware they were involved in the film at all. Further, why would they care?

Danjaq, EON's holding company, are co-copyright owners with MGM of both the non-EON Bond films (Danjaq is even mentioned on the back cover of the "Casino Royale" '67 Blu Ray in the copyright)

Any evidence on the claim that Eon co-owns copyright for NSNA?

Eon co-owns CR ´67 way before MGM joined the party. They secretly bought Charles Feldman's rights after he passed away in 1968 to stop Columbia (who held the distribution rights) from remaking the novel.

NSNA was bought by MGM in order to have exclusive rights to all things Bond (they also acquired the 1954 Royale teleplay). However, I've never seen any concrete indication that Eon was directly involved or held copyright over those. As you mention, Eon is credited on the back cover of Royale '67 (but not NSNA).

MGM and Danjaq have joint ownership of all things Bond including Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again, and even if that weren't the case MGM wouldn't risk the relationship they have with Eon by going behind their backs in approving a release without their blessing. The last time that happened there was a lawsuit which kept the Bond films off the screens for six years.

The fact that you type that "MGM and Danjaq have joint ownership of all things Bond including Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again" does not count as evidence, unfortunately.

Danjaq bought Feldman's rights to Casino Royale after he died and acquired the rest of the rights from Columbia as a result of the 1999 lawsuit. The back of the BD actually lists the copyright as Famous Artists/Danjaq, it's official.

NSNA was bought by MGM to protect the franchise/relationship with Eon but I haven't found any evidence that Eon co-owns NSNA now (and believe me, I've looked hard). The back cover of the BD only states NSNA Co. as the copyright owner.

"...this acquisition now expands United Artists', MGM's and Danjaq's ownership in and control of the franchise to include every James Bond film ever made."

"We have taken this definitive action to underscore the point that the Bond franchise has one home and only one home -- with the collective family of United Artists, MGM, and Danjaq," stated Lindsay Doran, President of United Artists."

Final Cut is issuing a BD in the UK. I'm sure it will be the same master repurposed yet again. Probably with the same wonky 5.1 mix to boot. Original mono is the way to go here and the 1994 Laserdisc hasn't been beaten yet on that front.

This film would look gorgeous in 4K. It deserves a whole making of docu and at least some indication of the mountain of unused footage we've never seen or only glimpsed in the in-film montages and production stills.

At least the score finally got a near definitive release with the Quartet 50th anniversary CD.

This has indeed been released by Final Cut. I bought a copy through Amazon Global Store UK. It wasn't cheap $27 with tax and all. Came nicely packaged and with a slipcover.

Says Region B on the back but the copy I got plays in my region A players (and my region B player). I wrote a user review for this specific release if you go look at the release:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Casin...lu-ray/299677/

It does have nice special features, a Making Of, the 1954 TV adaptation, feature commentary, a Psychedelic Cinema featurette, original trailer.

There's a forum thread for the Final Cut version too:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=342906

I didn't really even know about this until I started doing watching from the first Bond movie when my friend comes over. He said, "we need to watch the spoof Casino Royale as part of our marathon". So I looked it up, couldn't rent a copy, couldn't buy a copy of the US version, and found this.

The original mono is present on the UK BD, though it appears to missing Dr Noah's final atomic hiccup...unless that is something added for the remix?
