Beaver has reviewed it and I'm sticking with my pre-order. $7.50 after gold box isn't a significant enough differemce over the $5.99 it will be.

It certainly helped that the comparison to the French and the Alliance version was there and both looked worse. I just didn't find it to be dvd quality and I enjoy the film, as silly as it is.

The Beaver comparison shots seal the deal for me. Correct aspect ratio and special features beat out slightly better picture quality. I can't believe people were saying that it looked worse than a DVD.

Unless you just prefer the theatrical cut, there's no reason to go with the Alliance version. That amount of cropping is unacceptable.

If you liked the movie but don't have it on DVD, I say go for it. It's only $8.00! The Canadian release is not in its OAR, so this is more of a reason to buy the U.S release. If you currently have the DVD, and want to upgrade it just for the lossless audio on the blu-ray, that's another option.

Ouch, looks to be a pretty bad transfer. Still might get it simply for the low price.

I just did a comparision myself between the Blu-ray and DVD and unfortunately the reviews are very right about this one as the quality is close to how my DVD looked. The Blu is slightly sharper and the colors are a tad better but there isn't a drastic difference and it's ashame because this movie could've have looked alot better but oh well for $7.99 it's not a total loss. I'll just give my DVD copy to a friend.

Weird move for Lionsgate. Its obvious it's an HDTV master from DVD era. Maybe they couldn't justify a new master, but still..disappointing.

This is a strange Blu-ray. Since it got such a horrible review, I A/B'd the DVD & the BD all the way thru, switching it back and forth - kinda watching it twice. For the first third of the flick I thought the DVD looked better , but for the last half to two-thirds the BD looked a bit better. Pity they didn't do a more righteous job on the transfer (maybe you guys are right about the HDTV master). Obviously, I like this movie, mostly, or I wouldn't have bought it twice - although it probably would've been better with someone else in Affleck's role, not his best work. Gary Sinise, who I usually don't like, and Clarence Williams III (from The Mod Squad!) were rock solid. Visually, probably the best looking scene was Theron's topless pool scene - go figure.

Did anyone see the Japanese disc? According to this site it has the director's and theatrical cuts. Unfortunately it seems to be OOP and horribly expensive
