I'm happy with my Platinum Edition Blu-ray. Can't expect nothing new for the Diamond Release unless they dig really hard in the vault.

I'll say this is going to be a one Blu-ray disc and one DVD. Going to drop the galleries and some features from the Platinum Edition and replace it with a brand new documentary or a never-before-scene of a song and a new music video. Diamond Edition will not have disc art, no inside cover art, no scene selection booklet, and no open like a book slipcover.

I was hoping for an Aladdin: Diamond Edition release. Now we know that Aladdin is going to have a crappy Blu-ray release and some bonus features from the Platinum Edition are not going to make it on Blu-ray.

I'd only double dip if they corrected the color issues.

Personally, I want to upgrade from my Sleeping Beauty: Diamond Edition DVD to Blu-ray. The only issue is the release date.

Really? Are you saying that Blu-ray version won't contain with these content?

They've been changing, censoring, dropping, and even pretending certain Bonus Features never existed.

That's a bummer. Is there's a reason for it?

DVD edition: [extracted from DVDizzy.com review]

"There's only one real extra on Disc 1: an audio commentary only available for the widescreen version (effectively hidden on the DVD's packaging), with animation historian Jeff Kurtti, art director Eyvind Earle, Sleeping Beauty artists Frank Armitage, Mark Davis, and Ollie Johnston, modern day Disney artists Michael Giaimo and Mike Gabriel, and the voice and live-action reference for Aurora's character, Mary Costa. Since the movie gets most of its attention for its visuals, it's no surprise that the commentary focuses mainly on developing and creating these, and provides some very interesting information on the production."

Bluray editoin: [from blu-ray.com review]
"To start off, Cine-Explore features three animation gurus - film historian and longtime Disney collaborator Leonard Maltin, supervising animator Andreas Deja, and John Lasseter ... an Audio Commentary option is available; it is the very same recording with the three enthusiasts, just sans the pictures.

I can understand the frustration of re-releasing this when there's other movies that haven't gotten a Diamond Edition release yet, but I'm happy that they are re-releasing it since I missed it the first time around.

So, is it a good idea to hold on Sleeping Beauty DVD?

in my opinion: definitely yes! to dispose of a DVD that features legendary Disney animator Ollie Johnston featured on the commentary track reeks of being a tad rude.

OTOH, it's been six years from cradle to grave for the short, unpromising life of Disney BD-Live, that the first Sleeping Beauty disk was supposed to roll out on the new industry--
And should be interesting to see what's on the disk now...

(We probably won't get menus tailored to the correct weather and time in our area.)

Tell me about it. I recently watched Dear John on DVD. One of the opening commercials was a long advertisement for BD Live. Guess what? Sony stopped supporting BD Live, too.

I have to admit, that's my favorite feature of the Blu-ray (aside from the film, obviously).

Aladdin gets a non diamond release with the original released Spring '14 and the sequels as a double pack fall '14. Edit: Wait that leaves three spots. So see below!!! 14 total, correct? So with 8 already out, 2 confirmed, 1 limbo, that leaves 3.
I think it's more likely that Pinocchio is re-released in Spring '15 and either a final Diamond or the beginning of a new strategy in Autumn '15.

Honestly, I think it's time for them to move on from this "best of the best" release strategy they started with the Platinum Collection and I get the feeling that that's exactly what they will be doing upon the completion of the Diamond Editions.

Disney will always have collection titles, whether it be Gold or Platinum or Limited Edition or Diamond or Animated Classics or Masterpiece, but I think the singling out of a handful of titles will end soon.

This right here. I see it pop up online for cheap all the time. Pinocchio is the one I want re-released. The prices on that are crazy!
