You could use this same argument to support buying HDDVD players and media instead of BD. So I altered the context slightly. But you get the picture
Bah, but we own Blu-Ray. Think about it, with the same budget, we either get a Samsung/Panny and a HD-DVD player - or a Vizio with a Blu-Ray player.

For the time being, until Grad School gets paid off in my case, the Vizio will do.

Cons are the black level though - Im a little terrified to play Underworld on my TV,

...and buy it from Costco. My next TV is def. coming from Costco - been looking at a Philips or Samsung there.

i own a vizio. guess what? it looks good. of course i would rather have a sony but i can't afford it. just because something is cheap doesn't mean it is bad. it is better than a lot of better named brand tvs out there that cost a lot more. as far as hd tv programming is concerned like baseball and football and basketball games...they look better on my vizio than on any other hdtv ive seen them on. get off your high horse.

I have a 32inch HD Vizio Tv, and It's awsome. I work part time at sears while I'm in school, and they have the lowest return rate. In fact rarely ever see any Vizio's being returned.

we have a new slimline sharp 52" in the livingroom (which retired a mitsu 55" 1080i crt and a panny ax100 projector), and 2 vizio 37" in bedrooms. the vizios are more than satisfactory after a quick thx optimizer adjustment.

I have a 60" vizio plasma in my den that has a good enough pq. It's been a year since I brought it and i'm satisfied with it.Last month for a gift for my with I bought her a 58" 1080p panasonic and a 52" sony bravia for the upstairs living room.Though the pana and sony are improvements over the vizio,If vizio would of had a 1080p plasma around i would of brought it.I would of used the money left over to buy another blu player and movies.

Im glad to hear because a 47inch vizio is probley going to be my final choice since theirs nothing else on the market right now that fits my buget. Like you said, I'd get a Sony if they were cheaper but it looks like it's not going to happen.

I happen to love my 32" Vizio and I have seen all the brands in play and my $600.00 Vizio is just as good as the 2 or 3 grand HDTVs. I am upgrading this summer and it will be a 42" Vizio full 1080p HDTV or 47" Vizio full 1080p HDTV.
Thats because Vision meets Value. Everyone dont have the best jobs or the extra 2 or 3 grand for a TV that isn't going to be much different. All you are paying for is the NAME. If you are wanting a great HDTV for a small price to pay, go with the Vizio and dont listen to other people with get this brand because you know the name.

I'm afraid you're sorely misinformed.

You're paying for quality components, high contrast ratios, motion estimation engines, quality builds.

Vizio is essentially "how cheap can we ship something that will put an image on the screen"

If you're satisfied with it, bully for you, but there's no value in something that turns into a pumpkin after a year, because you can't get it serviced and if it breaks, you have to chuck it and buy a new one. The 3 TVs you go through by the time my name brand breaks more than make up the price difference

I have a 47 inch vizio, and its great. Ive had it over a year and that lcd works better than the other hdtvs ive had in the past. So what its cheap? who cares? use the money you save to support bluray. Im not saying its the best tv ever, but it rates regularly just as good as most "major" brands. Alot of you guys dont even have vizios, so how do you have the ability to make judgement on something you dont even own? That doesnt make any sense.

Because we've seen them in action, and are well aware of things like how much it costs to build an LCD TV, why it costs that much, and the reliability track record of the brands

Vizio, Westinghouse, Polaroid, whatever. There's a reason why Best Buy calls them "boomerangs", because such a large percentage are DOA out of the box

I dunno if I'd quite put Vizio with the cheap brands like that. I've seen some Westinghouse/Polaroids in action, they're not the same thing, picture quality is vastly different and from working somewhere that sells lots and lots of Vizios, the return rate is practically null. We've only had maybe 2 returned in the past year and that is because they thought their $600 tv should look like $4000 tv, despite being told beforehand it wasn't the case. :P

In my case, I bought a Vizio cause I can't come close to affording a TV I really want, but it gives me very good picture quality for the money and I guarantee I wouldn't have HD at all for another few years if it wasn't for these TVs. The Vizio TVs is what will get the common people buying blu-rays. Most people cannot afford the huge expensive entertainment room that some of Blu-ray.com's members have. (And no I would refuse to spend the next 5 years paying on my TV)

anyhow

i sold a 40'' samsung to a guy who has worked at costco for years..i asked why he isnt using his discount at costco...he said for what? the shitty vizio that gets returned every other minute

vizio....sanyo....insignia....dynex.....element... .ilo.....all mutt tvs....all garbage

I agree, we've spent a ton of $$$$$$ buying quality quality tv's... but to speek of westinghouse's exc. they are fine in my opinion if you have a low low budget or need a tv for a guest room or something. We have 3 42'' westinghouse's for guestrooms, I really dont need an xbr4 for a room that gets use maybe 1-4 times every 2 mo. but I do agree you get what you pay for, our xbr4 loooks about 1,000 times better than the cheaper tv's btw as long as everyones lovin blu it doesnt matter what its on

You know I have heared it all now, I am not going to sit here on my computer and act like an inmatured little kid. If you all want to put down Vizio you can, I do not care and am not going to bother to get mad over something this stupid. You all can have your big Brand HDTVs and I will have what fits my budget, which is the Vizio. You say you have seen the Vizio in play well guess what, you must have seen it while day dreaming because it gives great picture. I have also seen the Sharp, Sony, and other big name tvs in play and all I have to say is I wouldnt pay that much money extra for them because there isnt much loss. Yes I admit I would love to have a Sharp Aquas but with my budget and school and everything I simply will have to wait for a while. Please just watch what you say because like I said before everybody dont have the paying jobs they want, this is Blu-ray.com not HDDVD so quit dissing people for what they have and grow up. The importing thing is we are all together in this format war and be thankful that us, Vizio owners, support the best format which is Blu-ray.

But you CAN afford it. It's just a question of how patient you're willing to be

I saved actively for 3 years knowing last fall I'd buy a new TV

+1.

Everyone who has one (or had one, in my case) swears by them. Those who haven't, hate them. These TVs have been debated like this on end, and no one is going to change the other's opinion.

A Vizio tv is like anything else, you get what you pay for...

Think of it like new car shopping. All of the solutions will get you from point A to point B, but you really don't want to drive a Geo do you?

Same with an LCD or Plasma tv...

A lot of people drive Geo's and there is nothing wrong with that, so if you're a Geo driver, pick up a Vizio.

If a internet thread had the ability to prove anything, this thread would prove that ignorance is bliss...
