Default Vizio Tvs - What do you think of them?

How do you guys feel about Vizio HDTVs? I swear every restaurant or club has them. They are really inexpensive compared to other brands. Personally, I don't like them. I think they look cheap and I think people would be happier and have a lot better HD experience with even a Samsung, LG, Sharp, Panasonic, or a Sony.

In my personal opinion they are the Wii's of the tv world. They sell like crazy because of their price, however, you get what you pay for. Don't get me wrong Wii's are great, well great for busniess. If you are working with a small budget then Vizio is a great choice if you need something right then and there. All in all I wouldn't recommend one to anyone but at the same time I wouldn't call them a bad choice.

Default Vizio

I dont know much about HDTV's but I own a Vizio 50' Plasma HDTV. I have had it for a year and a half and its great. I dont know how it compares to other brands but for me the PQ is great. The SQ is not all that but I have a surround system from Panasonic which is great.

I got a 42" Vizio because I was on a budget, but it's been giving me problems for awhile now. Luckily I got it from Costco right before they changed their return policy and I won't fell bad for returning it because I've been having legititmate issues with it.

I would just buy neither...

I don't want to support Toshiba in any way...or anything supporting Red..

I want all my movies to come out on Blu and asap...so they lose any potential money coming from me..

as far as Vizio goes...I just don't know about them yet...

people seem to like them, but I don't like going with new companies that are not a subsidiary of a major one...

I hear they are the #1 selling LCD's in the USA. Walmart selling them probably plays a huge factor to that.

Personally I'd recommend Samsung and Sony. Samsung sells really well at my Best Buy.

Default Never buy Vizio for residential use

Vizios belong in bars, restaurants, and at public areas...where people are watching the news and sports...versus at home where people watch BRay movies...

Price is what sells Vizios...not quality...just look at the contrast ratios on Vizios and other cheaper HDTVs...you will regret watching movies like the first 3 HP BRays if you have a Vizio.

When buying HDTVs, I look at contrast ratio first then # of HDMI ports second...

vizio's make great secondary tvs. you're not going to wow anyone with it. but if you want an hdtv for the bedroom and don't want to spend a lot its the best option imo. there are 2 problems, the contrast levels suck, as do the speakers. i'm looking at getting a boston acoutics TVee system to help with that for us.

yeah, if you're looking to get a great deal on a flat-panel, go with a panasonic plasma!!! my friend got a 42" for $900 on black friday!! when comparing the two at the store (i know, they're on in-store settings), watching rocky on blu-ray, in dark scenes, the vizio had one big black mush while the panasonic delineated all of the black shades...for black level reasons alone i'd stay away from vizio and grab a panny plasma!!

As a proud Vizio owner for a year and a half, I can say I have had no problems with the TV (then again, college student on a budget here) and its PQ was well enough that Blu-Ray played fantastically on 1080i.

The bottom line would be, those who have one swear by them, those who don't - seem to dislike them.

I could go into more detail, but I've argued for the Vizio so many times, haha. Trust me, if you like it, go for it, it WILL NOT let you down.

wow I really agree with that lol, the wii's of hdtv's, I don't have any problem with people buying what they can afford so if that's your budget do it big but I would personally save until I could go with a different brand

My Cousin has a Vizio. Not as good as my Bravia but it's decent. If you are serious about gaming as well as getting the most out of your Blu-ray movies then I don't recommend a Vizio. Save your money and buy a quality product(s) that will last you a few years. Look for good deals now before the year ends.

Kidding right? Hope so... I'm sure LT has some 80" plasma in his house. Not a Vizio.

Vizio = trash. Might as well by ad akai LCD or a Magnavox... its all garbage in my opinion. Stick with the Sony, panasonic, Pioneer Elite, samsung.... TVs in the "upper class"..... TVs you can't buy at your local KMart.

Don't even compare Vizio with Magnavox. That's an insult to Vizio. Vizio is at least 100x better than Magnavox.

And not everybody can afford the upper class TVs. That's the point.
