It would be nice if they could find those scenes and add them as extras.
I actually sent a copy of the workprint to them but the editor of the film had a better quality version of the deleted scenes and they obviously used those. Which I'm happy about because he might've had more stuff too. Not to mention the audio on my workprint was out of sync by a few secs.

It will be interesting to see the making of and see what is said about the shoot.
Romero told me that Timothy Hutton was the most difficult actor he ever worked with and Michael Rooker had a horrible time making this film because he was Romero's first choice, but Hutton and Amy Madigan wanted someone else in the part, so they gave him hell the entire shoot.

I have a question for people who have seen the movie. Legit spoilers under this, don't click if you don't want some of the ending spoiled.
[Show spoiler]Just watched this movie last night and something near the ending has me confused. Right before Thad leaves for the cabin to finally face off against Stark Reggie tells Thad: "Wear a red carnation so I know it's you" (Referring to the next time they meet). Now during the movie I thought that was just setting up a scene for the movie to end on. But that's not what happens, the movie just ends with the sparrows going into that big demon sky hole thing, leaving that carnation line never referenced again. Why is that line there in the first place if it has no payoff? Is it a reference that I'm not getting? Was a scene cut? Does the book explain it? Does anyone know?

This (along with Shout Factory's simultaneous Monkey Shines release) is one of my most anticipated releases of the year. Can't wait.

I think it's just a joke (but also a sign of support) that she believes
[Show spoiler]Stark is real and that she wants Thad to stay
. Reggie is a bit of a talkative personality, in the book the Reggie character is a man. In regards to that scene, I always felt the shot of the birds flying over Thad and Reggie in broad daylight looked terribly fake. What did you think of the movie overall?

This is one of those instances where the movie is way, way inferior to the book. This was one of my favorites from Stephen King. The villain, George Stark, was excellently written. Very memorable character. But the movie version of him doesn't seem like the same guy at all. One of King's best books, but also one of the weakest King adaptations.

I agree. In fact, I loved the book so much that I wrote a screenplay of it myself and tried to get it sold but Romero had purchased the rights before publication.

I didn't like that Hutton played both parts. I always saw Gregg Henry as Stark.

[Show spoiler]

A weird twist of fate brought me to work on the show for two days. The scene were Stark is
[Show spoiler]getting ripped apart by the sparrows at the end
.

Looking forward to this release very much.

When this title was announced at CC, for some reason I had mistaken it for Needful Things, the movie that I actually dig (hence the exclamation mark).

I don't like this one. It felt like a retarded version of Secret Window (which is itself a mediocre movie). Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I would like to see Scream do Needful Things, since the DVD was put out by MGM, I think Scream should be able to acquire it.

Are they shipping this out already? If it's for review purposes, I hope to read it soon.

P.S. Needful Things would be a great title for blu-ray, maybe even in its extended cut; the existing German blu-ray is a disappointment.

The commentary and documentary are both great. Hutton's behavior discussed in detail, Michael Rooker telling everyone "he's not friends with the actors" and never has been. Sounds like a horrible shoot!

I also second NEEDFUL THINGS for Shout -- ESPECIALLY in the 3-hour version which is vastly superior to the theatrical cut. No idea, though, if it exists in HD or not.

I own the French blu-ray and it looks quite good. I'm curious if they used the same transfer. Looking forward to this release, absolutely love this film and the extras seem excellent.

Finally tried to watch this and couldn't make it through half of it. Granted I am not a big horror guy and bought it during a brief horror buying-a-thon that was ill advised, but still. No real tension or cinematic flair. Sorry George, this one is going on ebay.
