when I made my decision on which format to support...that played a huge factor...

Exactly. Let's face it. Microsoft can't enter this war directly. I can only say this, if Microsoft even contemplates anti-trust activities, Bill Gates is going to be handed a bottle of K-Y from the European Union. Honestly, the power of Microsoft has been substantially reduced over the last decade because of continuous losses before domestic U.S. anti-trust agencies and the EU.

No way, no how is Microsoft going to ramp up much further with HD-DVD support, unless they plan on trojan horsing a 360 with an internal drive and undercutting the PS3.

At this point, Blu-ray seems to be holding its lead this holiday season, and with the numbers staying put, Warner really needs to reflect on its previous statements inferering HD DVD needed a big push to close the gap.

this only proves the point that was brought up before...

Blu is in this to win...HD-DVD wants to survive with Blu so they can bring along their download format as an alternative to both of these options and come out smelling like roses with 100% studio support.....but available for DOWNLOAD ....

what then?...I download a movie in HD and burn it on a BD?.....I WANT TO OWN THE ACTUAL BD OF THE FREAKIN MOVIE....not a download..

I should have bought the A2 player at $98. It could have been a good souvenir in memory of the bloody format war.

I've always felt that HD-DVD sort of reads like "DVD Plus" to the average Joe and with prices so low, the whole point of the format gets lost to the average consumer. Blu-Ray on the other hand has a catchy and intriguing title and really comes across as something new and exciting. While I'd love to see prices come down eventually (especially for the discs), I think that keeping Blu-Ray prices higher than DVD prices was a smart move. It comes across as something new and better. I wonder if there's any consumer feedback regarding any of this.

HD DUD player can stack very neatly on top of your Beta player, 8-trac tape deck, Lazerdisc player, and your cassette player! Who knows, lets set a little walkman and portable cd player with 45 second anti-skip protection right on top. It can be like a shrine of old technology! Take a picture for me when your done k?

Yes, can't the DUD'ders just give up. There's no possible way to turn this thing around.

I've been so excited that Blu has been doing so well because I just absolutely am thrilled at how these discs DON'T scratch under normal use. I had a scratched DVD the other day & was thinking at how awful it would be if we couldn't progress into a next gen format without having some major benefits.

YES, I know technically BLU is better all the way around, but just for that one feature (durability) alone makes spending more money on the disc worth it for me. Screw HD-DUD.
