Oh I absolutely agree. I'm actually more excited at what's to come. If this is their first open world imagine what will come next. It finally seems like they've caught up to everybody as far as engines, bigger worlds and HD are concerned. No more struggling. Now the magic will happen. Imagine the next Mario or Punch Out or Pilotwings or hell, a new Wave Race.

Also, apparently you can go right to the last boss and finish the game quickly. Or do everything to get the entire story.

"Users may not actually get the full story depending on how they play this game and how they strategize and solve puzzles," producer Eiji Aonuma told Polygon. "Users are able to go to the very end goal without revealing why Link woke up the way he did and where he did. Whether you want to reveal the storyline and find out why Link woke up, or you want to just go straight to the goal, that's an option totally up to the user."

We've already seen an awful lot of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at this year's E3, but one thing we haven't seen yet is the game's conclusion. Maybe that's obvious, but according to the game's creators, dedicated players will be able to speed on through to the game's finish right from the start, if they wish to do so.

When asked, Aonuma confirmed that a player could go directly to the final boss of the game from its opening moments if they wanted. However, he also stressed that he didn't view this as an ideal way to play.

"Anybody who can go straight to the goal without doing anything else — there's two possibilities," Aonuma said. "Either they're a really good gamer, or they could be somebody that's a little bit crazy. But it's not impossible. I created the game like that.

"Maybe it might be fun for fans to compete in a challenge for who can clear it first."

I think LoZ: BotW looks great. I think it's pointless comparing it to games with realistic graphics (like Uncharted 2), as this world has it's own unique, cell-shaded art style.

It's like comparing The Tale of Princess Kaguya (2014) with a Pixar film. Lots of people did and said TToPK looks awful, but it's an entirely different art style all together.

The comparison shot from the last page isn't great. The E3 2014 image is from a video promo, not from gameplay. It's the same with every game that gets a swanky teaser trailer or cutscenes. Gameplay rarely looks as good.

Even still I probably won't get this. I have too many Zelda games to get through.

It's not the art style of the game that bothers me. Personally I love the water color artsy look. However even within that style I think it should look better. For example, when Link chops down a tree and it falls over, all the branches magically disappear and it becomes this smooth, perfecly formed log that looks exactly the same everytime. To me that kind of stuff is lazy programming.

I wonder if they're going to make a CE for this. I hope they don't make a LE NX, because I don't want one but uf they made a Zekda LE console I'd probably buy it...

Of course they will.

The actual question is: Will they only make a lame-ass "plus amiibo" edition or an actual proper Collector's Edition w/ artbook + soundtrack + other stuff.

The Hyrule Warriors Treasure / Premium editions from Japan give me hope. On the other hand those were exclusive to Japan (and I imported them). Europe only got 1 item of each instead of the full deal.

The Legend of Zelda E3 Demo Contains Coded Messages..

Quote:
It looks like Nintendo embedded secret messages into The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild footage from E3.

Zelda fans have already created a translation key for the written language seen throughout Breath of the Wild. They haven't figured out every letter just yet—but they're well on their way.

NeoGAF user RagnarokX mentioned it all began when Nintendo released a teaser image with Hylian text. Another GAFer "noticed a pattern," and figured out the text read THELEGENDOFZELDA. It was enough letters to begin translating the Hylian found in Breadth of the Wild's E3 footage.

Nintendo seems to be using the language to tell fans what they're looking at, or how they should use something; on the entrance to a dungeon, the word is spelled out repeatedly with the symbols. Letters on a gear spell out rotate, and a tower spotted around Hyrule is labeled sheaktower.

Thanks to neogaf for the scoop.

No, no, no and no
Okay, if we must.

All we know is Link has been asleep for a long time and that 100 years prior to the start "Calamity Ganon" appeared and tried to destroy Hyrule. He was then sealed in Hyrule Castle.
We know the Temple of Time is there, which places us (in theory) after Ocarina of Time. This present the problem of three concurrent timelines (joy).
One were Link fails and Two were Link defeats Ganon, One in which Link lives as Young Link before Hyrule was conqured and one in which he lives afterwards as Adult Link.

Adult Link Timeline would have to happen prior to Wind Waker and the events might set Wind Waker in motion, after this it's no longer Hyrule as we know it and after Wind Waker they move on completely.

Young Link Timeline could be anywhere after Majora's Mask since that follows on directly from OoT and features Link as a child.

Link Fails Timeline once again could be anywhere execpt between A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening as they, along with Oracles and I believe A Link Between Worlds as joined in the same Era.

My theory is it's on the Link Fails Timeline or a new Link doesn't wake up from OoT Timeline. The only thing that spoils the placement as being 100 years after OoT in that timeline is the Guardians, they didn't exist in OoT.

Any way it goes it's probably after Ocarina of Time.

Looks like Monolith Soft is playing a big part in development of this game.

http://nintendoeverything.com/over-1...h-of-the-wild/

[Show spoiler]Over 100 Monolith Soft employees are working on Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Posted on June 17, 2016 by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, NX, Wii U

We already knew that Xenoblade Chronicles developer Monolith Soft was involved with Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but now we have further confirmation of that. Shigeru Miyamoto told Game Informer that more than 100 staffers from the company are working on the project.

He said:

“Yes they are involved in this Zelda. People from Tokyo and Kyoto are working together on this. There is a team of over 100 [from Monolith] helping work on this project, and their work has really been helpful.”

They said the NX won't replace the Wii U, so could it be an add on peripheral like Sega's 32x was back then?

They also said the DS wouldn't replace the Gameboy Advance.

Host: What do you know about NX?

Fabian: It will be fantastic. As developer [CD Projekt] you get access to the hardware and everybody [at CD Projekt] is looking forward. We know things.
Hopefully that means a Definitive version of Witcher 3 for NX. It's the only 3rd AAA-party game that I'm actually interested in.
