No comedy movie list is complete without :
#2 : "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die. "
#1 : "All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?"

From that list, I'd have to go with Happy Gilmore. As for all time, I have to say Airplane!, Spaceballs, (almost any Mel Brooks film), and Naked Gun.

I say not on this list, here are a few that I like.

Ace Ventura
Spaceballs
Robin Hood- Men in Tights
The Replacements
Galaxy Quest
Evolution
Rush Hour
Hot Shots
Naked Gun
Wedding Crashers
Old School
Grammy’s Boy
Bruce Almighty
The Goonies
Shaun of the Dead
Office Space
Harry and the Hendersons
The Great Outdoors

I could go on, but I think that's good for now.

Definately two greats! Must have's!!!!

I voted for Big Lebowski, that would be my fav of those listed....but there are SO many more good comedies that are out there, alot that you have all listed.

there is just too many greats to call out THE best. Too many different styles of comedy that can be appreciated by so many different classes of people.

My favorite comedy is Analyze This but that said, the list provided by the OP is pretty good. I like the following...

American Pie
Chuck and Larry (hilarious! plus Jessica Biel looks hot as hell in this one!)
Tommy Boy
Happy Gilmore
Billy Madison (the dumbest but it gets my vote, very very funny!)
Beverly Hills Ninja

Won't get to see Superbad until later this week, hopefully.

Now when do we get to see all of those on Blu? Most of them are Paramount/Universal titles.

I agree with a lot of people in this thread. Planes,Trains and Automobiles, Dumb and Dumber, Caddyshack, and The Jerk are my all time favorite comedies.

I selected "not on list," but out of the the ones listed Superbad is the best. Why is Chuck and Larry even on the list? that movie was terrible.

By "best comedy to date" I thought you meant "best comedy EVER," in which case you should have gone with the most successful and popular comedies, not just some random recent ones.
