Between the MGM US Blu and Second Sight's, there's really nothing left to be done here. Why bother?

Lionsgate! We'll probably never see it on Blu.

I think it needs a corrected picture because the scene of the Moon with the Halo around it is cut off since the second MGM DVD release. The Caps from Second Sight's show it cut half off as well.

Sticking with the MGM blu I bought for $7.99, possibly the best blind buy I've ever made.
100% agree. MGM's Blu-ray is stacked, there's a feature-length doc, and the unlockable UK release with the original audio. There's nowhere for this to go, supplement-wise, and Shout! tends to prioritize extras over transfers. Even if they did a transfer, how much better will the movie look? Seems like a waste of time.

Amen. I love that screenshot and without the moon it's incomplete.

As a final piece of reassurance, I just tested the UK steelbook on my US PS4 and it works with the controller.

I just picked this up during the Fox Connect 50% off sale. Unless it's some type of really great packaging or a huge amount of extras, I can't see grabbing this release.

I love this movie, but the only way I'll buy it a fourth time would be for a new transfer from the negatives and/or a doc on the soundtrack with an interview with Poison Ivy Rorschach.

I would guess they're counting on the fact most people don't import, even when a foreign release works on region A locked players. The US release is pretty good but the original audio and the More Brains doc will get a lot of those "US releases only!" people to double-dip.

Plus a lot of people buy Scream CEs just to have them, it seems.

I haven't gotten around to getting the UK disc yet but was going to soon. Now I have to decide whether to go ahead and get it or wait to see what Scream announce. Decisions, decisions...

It may seem impossible now, but I'm HOPING that this will lead to, like Sleepaway Camp, and we could get part 2 and 3 as Collector's Editions, somewhere down the road. Just hoping.

Mentioned is the UK original audio. I am unfamiliar. Are we talking dialog changes or channel aspect (UK Mono/2.0 vs US 5.1)?

With their recent track record of botched transfers- why bother with this? The current release looks great and it's dirt cheap. This is a pass.

Some of the zombie voices were altered, one song from the score is removed and two others were curtailed:

Can't find one. I'm pretty sure there used to be one on Google. Hopefully this new release doesn't have the moon cropped out in that mountain scene, if not I'll create a new one.

Not much point to this if original audio isn't included.
I'll need a remastered workprint to septa-dip on this title. I own too many versions on too many formats already, including a barely watchable vcd of the workprint and the UK steelbook.

I want to trust and love Scream, but Dog Soldiers has me leaning towards siding with the haters. Something seriously wrong with that transfer!

What?

Scream has already released all three of these.

Wow! There is a lot of negativity around here. As one who does not own the import and only owns the US MGM Blu I welcome a definitive US version with the proper soundtrack. Maybe they will do a new scan and fix the off framing that is quite noticeable at the tail end of the flick. Bring it on.
