Well I'll just have to wait until they do get around to releasing it on UHD (the upgrade from BD to UHD for me so far has been enough to where it's pointless for me to be buying BDs unless they are movies I think have no chance of getting a UHD release). If they are releasing 100 UHD movies this year, and that's a LOT, then it's hard to imagine this movie not being one of them.

So...what about that Amazon.ca preorder? Just because it's not getting released here doesn't mean it can't get released somewhere else.

IMO BD doesn't look that bad, the difference compared to DVD is huge.

I consider I like the movie. I talk about Independent Day on Bluray combos DVD and digital.

Why? Why not on UHD 4K?

In my opinion there is hope as long as the Amazon.ca pre-order page is up.

.. as they did with The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2 and Risen

For The Hunger Games Mockinjay Part 2 they have removed the pre-order option, and it is now listed as "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

For Risen they have completely removed the pre-order page.

I mean of course the UHD versions.

This insures that they get the colors correct and get a chance to charge us doubly later

Now that I think about it, it does make sense for them to delay the UHD release so it won't steal any thunder from the swag BD that's coming out. I do expect the UHD to come out soon, but they may delay it until perhaps normal Father's Day period next year (meaning May). But hopefully sometime later this year.

It makes more sense to release it next year on 4th of July. They get to release it on a Tuesday that way.

Well this sucks was real looking forward to picking it up on UHD,I am just assuming but think it would still make a lot of sense to release it this year on UHD because of the whole "20th Anniversary" plus the fact that the sequel is coming out as well.Again just assuming but it would make sense to release both the original and sequel at the same time on UHD come the fall/later this year.

Maybe they'll release it the Tuesday before the 4th of July this year, so it'll be a real 20th anniversary. The theatrical version didn't come out until July 3rd. But as long as they release it sometime this year then I guess they can still call it a 20th anniversary edition.

^ Yep, that makes sense. They can let the regular BD of the restored version have its day in the sun, but releasing the UHD together with the UHD of Resurgence (perhaps even in a double pack) would be sweet.

Yeah never thought of the day and date with the new movie. That seems the mostly likely scenario.

Default No sale for me.

The regular blu ray that is. The UHD will be out at some point, I'd rather just wait which is fine. I am looking forward to the restoration they do to this film, this movie brings back great memories.

Definitely on my 4K UHD Blu-ray radar! I, too, am wondering about the possibility of both cuts - theatrical and extended cuts - being available for the 4K UHD crowd??
