I kinda wanna watch it again because on paper, aka, reading about the plot, it sounds awesome. I saw it in theaters and liked it. But didn't love it like Gone Girl (which it often gets compared to). Felt like it could have been more wild, more "WOW!" or something.

It's definitely more introspective than GONE GIRL.

I preferred the film version of GIRL ON THE TRAIN to the book.

It felt like a Lifetime movie to me. The identity of the killer was obvious and most of the scenes with the main character drunk were unintentionally hilarious, despite Blunt giving the movie her all.

Saw this last night on bluray rental. Been wanting to see it since the cinema release but it was one of those I missed. Love a good mystery, and enjoyed it - but have seen better. Glad I've seen it, but one I will never watch again.

It premiered on Showtime last night.

Time to rewatch and see if it's better or worse than I recall

So the entire movie only exists because
[Show spoiler]
of one person misremembering. That is the movie is in a nutshell. Emily Blunt's character (Rachel) misremembering because she was drunk. There'd be no movie if she just didn't drink that night.

And why would Justin Theroux's character, (Tom) who's with his mistress, get out of his car to approach Rachel, his ex-wife? When you're cheating, having an affair, or committing adultery, you don't want anybody to see you, let alone your ex!

We watched it last night. I thought it was a very engaging thriller with a lot of character complexity. I kept wondering if the two blonde women's similarity was a mistake or an important plot point, then I found out.

It exists because Gone Girl was a huge success.

Anyone else think this movie was way too reliant on the unreliable narrator trope?

The novel also relied heavily on gaslighting as one of it's main themes, Tom would intentionally place false memories in her when she was drunk. It was way too overdone.
