Mine has been folded but is now kept flat.
Hmmm, I have seen a kind of pencil drawing for a Psycho III poster idea before, not sure if it's what you have

I suppose Arrow couldn't use the theatrical poster for their release for obvious reasons, which brings me to the question: wasn't Shout Factory denied permission to change the art for their release because the studio felt it was part of a legacy or something?
Hmmm... I'll agree to disagree on Indy 4. Haven't seen Phantasm 5 or Independence Day 2 and Land of the Dead is a blur to me. Funnilly enough, I had this conversation with a friend of mine recently and the only one we could agree on apart from Psycho II was The Two Jakes, which was made 16 years after Chinatown... though I freely admit that not many people would agree with us on that.

The Two Jakes is great, shame it isn't available in high definition.

Was thinking about physical copies. Not very excited by a Netflix version.

I'd be happy enough if they just slapped the HDTV version on a disc.

I'm definitely physical media > streaming, but it's there as an option I guess.

One of my 'most wanted' Blu-rays! A very underrated film IMO.

I suppose Warner would potentially be able to release it in the US as part of their distribution arrangement with Paramount, but it doesn't seem too likely. I just hope one of the UK labels can get the rights to it.

The Paramount-Warner distribution deal is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late deal. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If you hadn't nailed it to the perch, it would be pushing up the daisies. It's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-deal.

The Psycho Legacy has never been released in the UK. Arrow should try to get it as an extra. That would make the upgrade worthwhile.

Also, weren't there some extra scenes in the TV version? Or am I thinking of Part 3?

Not sure about II, but Psycho III had different opening credits which you can probably still find on YouTube.

Psycho Legacy's director Rob Galluzo was posted pictures of him hanging out with Tom Holland and Mick Garris (who worked at the Universal marketing division and the Z Channel when Psycho 2 was released). He also mentioned talking about Psycho so he might be shooting some new interviews for the blu.

Rob Galluzzo himself advises against the German bluray as it wasn't shot in HD.
I bought it for the cool cover, it has a slipcover too.
The picture quality isn't that bad, to be fair it doesn't need to be in HD

I didn't realise. I don't follow DVD releases anymore.

Also, there's no BBFC record.

Even if the doc was SD (which seems odd for something so relatively recent) Arrow could fit all the materials from the 2-disc set onto a second BD -- or just the doc on a single BD-50 with the feature film.

Who has the UK DVD rights?

Has there been a UK release ? Looking on Amazon they are selling R2 PAL DVDs but none of the cover designs have BBFC logo.

They have the German DVD and BD and these are cheaper than the other PAL R2 DVD. This is only sold by a Marketplace sellers so not sure if that implies it's an import as well. The cover photo has no rating logo.

LOL!

Thanks for the info though. I know Paramount license some of their back-catalog titles to Criterion, but I'm wondering whether they are now likely to make similar licensing deals with some of the other US labels such as Twilight Time, Kino Lorber, Olive Films, etc.

Otherwise I don't hold out much hope that we'll ever see some of their classic MIA titles making it to Blu-ray. As well as 'The Two Jakes', I'm thinking of titles such as 'The Parallax View', 'Catch-22', 'Heartburn', 'Ragtime', 'Hud', etc.

Someone "in the know" said there was a greater chance of licensing Paramount titles now, but also said not to expect some massive deal any time soon. Basically there's more of a chance now, but still no guarantee.

I'd like to add The Day of the Locust to that list. I bought the H.D download on Amazon recently, but its needs a complete remaster.

Psycho Legacy
Stax Entertainment release in the UK
Classification: Exempt

As Classification: Exempt is why no BBFC ratings on the DVD packaging

DVD available from all the usual UK retailers Amazon/HMV/Zavvi etc
