On a more serious note, these guys may be setting themselves up to be the boot-legged alternative to HD-DVD/Blu-ray.

Buy a cheapo player, down-convert an HD-DVD/Blu-ray to 720p (like the specs say), burn and be merry!

Until HD media becomes cheap enough to pirate, FVD might be the temporary solution boot-leggers are waiting for.

This is the only rational explanation I could think of...after all, nobody could be stupid enough to go up against Sony and Toshiba, especially at this point.

Is it just me, or does FVD sound like an acronym for Friendly Venereal Disease?

Any other good acronyms you can think of?

Woah! We got bumped to the Off topic discussion page.

I guess we're making the rest of Blu-Ray.com nervous!

HD-FVD is that much of a threat!

Blu-ray offical color is Blue.

HD DVDs is red.

I think HD-FVDs color should be a brownish color.

Don't get me started. The studio that made Transmorphers also has such blockbusters as:

The Da Vinci Treasure
Snakes on a Train
666: The Child
King of the Lost World
Pirates of Treasure Island
Alien vs. Hunter
When a Killer Calls
and
Hillside Cannibals

HD-FVD may be unstoppable with all these great titles in their library!
