Now, what have we learned here? Hmmm, let's see. If you don't want your girlfriend to be ridiculed and insulted then don't use her as the example? Maybe that's what we've learned here? Maybe?

I think you should let her read all of this so she can smack you upside your insensitive brain matter... DOH!

if this is the only problem you have with your girlfriend, you have nothing to worry about. the more you try to convince her of something, the less it will work. once she sees your dedication to the blu-ray format, she'll probably start liking it for that reason, since it is something you are into.

but again, this is seriously a non-issue to come and ask about advice of what to tell her. who really cares about blu-ray when it comes to social relationships?

the pq of 300 on blu-ray compared to the dvd I bought is 100% better ... just because the director chose grain isnt anyones fault but his when the complainers want to make a movie they can choose how its shot.

You've got to say that as far as the general public are concerned film grain is anti-HD.. they WANT a clear, crystal sharp image free from all the crappy artifacts they've put up with for years and when they then get something like 300's start or even Casino Royale's start then it completely confuses the hell outta them as to what HD is supposed to be. Grain might be what the film maker intents.. but it's not what the audience in general understands or wants..and the whole setting the mood of a scene is completely lost on them.

I've already had this arguement with someone who watched Monster House and said the picture was'nt very good.. I know.. if I'd acted out what was going through my head I'd be in prison right now..

Mate, showing a woman 300 would be like declaring to her your love of Beefcake.

I'm pretty sure the big directors won't change their style of storytelling, so the audience just has to understand that film grain and film are synonymous. Grain IS film (unless artificially introduced) and film is where the pictures lives.
