Guess it's time for me to reach out to my friends who get awards season screeners and ask them to hold onto that. |

Thank you, Jesus. Literally screamed "YES!" when saw the news. Absolutely stunning film! I was devastated when Netflix released it as it would mean no physical release. Now my hopes for Okja, The Irishman and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs are well alive!

Well, I wouldn't say it was their best movie, but I really enjoyed it. It's much better than Hail Caesar, and better than quite a few of their other recent films. The humour is a lot darker and drier than I'd seen from anything of theirs in a while. |

I tried watching Roma and found it quite boring, but I might not have been in the right mood for it. I’ll give it another shot, as the cinematography was beautiful in black and white.
If it was a 4K disc, I’d get it no question, but as a 1080p, I’ll give the film another shot before considering getting it. But the thought of having Netflix films on BD is tempting, so I may eventually get it even if I don’t end up liking the film. |

It's baffling to me that Criterion would not pony up the extra money for a UHD release and/or Netflix would not approve a UHD release. Not to put too fine a point on it, where is the big incentive to purchase the Blu-ray when I can stream 4K DV Atmos via gigabit ethernet for free as a Netflix subscriber? Yes, the supplements are always a big differentiator and certainly enjoyable, adding significant value. To 'own' it? Sure, that's a very strong emotion, up to a point. The point when you put the disc in the tray and then realize it's not a UHD. I'll buy it, but it's a shame and bitter disappointment. |

I do think it's mostly just a cost thing at this point. They probably already have done Dolby Vision for Tarkovsky film's. Myself, I'm going out on a limp and saying Come And See will be their first 4K. It's really sought after by their audience, and hasn't even had a Blu-ray. |

Nice to see a Netflix movie get a physical release, hope to see more get the same treatment, even if it's not Criterion (in fact I'd prefer if it wasn't, but I fear that'd be the only route).
That said, this would've been a no-brainer first UHD for Criterion. |
