I'm happy with my BD, which looks amazing, and I have nothing but respect for Darius Khondji so if he thinks HDR grade of Uncut Gems is trash, then who am I to question his opinion?

Probably wasn’t a 4K scan because while the film certainly doesn’t look it, it was a very low budget affair, and on top of that shooting on film potentially burned through a good chunk of the budget because I believe the Safdies shoot a lot of takes.

$50. The same price as Mulholland Drive & Menace II Society. I got that from their website.

Fantastic news! Now I’ll definitely be double dipping. The cover art isn’t my favorite, but it at least fits the movie.

This would look absolutely stunning in 4K HDR. The grain on the 4K DCP I saw was lovely and very fine, with detail being off the charts in many shots. Robbie Ryan is a very underrated cinematographer, and it’s a real shame his stunning 35mm and 16mm work on Ken Loach films gets relegated to 2K DCPs since that’s the finish the budget levels for those films allow for.

Edit: Just saw that The Favourite had a 2K finish too, absolute travesty that still so many new titles originating in 35mm end up with 2K DI finishes in this day and age. The Favourite may have been a case of there being too much CGI (which isn’t very likely anyway), but at the end of the day we have a film like Jarhead having a 4K DI but not for some films from just 2-3 years ago.

I was just thinking a couple of days ago how annoying this being released as just a blu ray is. Incredible news

We had a 4K Good Time when they announced Citizen Kane, Speed, The Lord of the Rings, X-Men (first 3 films), Star Wars saga, and so on.

The train where I live doesn't exist anymore. They ran out of town and the train station is now a hotel.

Parasite already has a 4K release, but I agree with you about the Irishman. Lots of other good ones to choose from too like The Big Chill.

Super happy for this! Criterion need to include reversible covers if they are going to keep failing with them.

You both forgot an even bigger no brainer: PARASITE

As for the cover art, I quite like it and the text isn't as crammed and illegible as the previous one
