And that still works with the food analogy, since taste in food is subjective, too.

Jaws 2 is a burger? Well, some people just don't care much for burgers. And that's fine.

There are people who hate pizza. I think they're crazy; to me there are few things better than an even just decent pizza. I don't know which movie gets to be the cinematic equivalent of pizza, though.

Pizza is something the vast, vast majority of people like even when it's not that good, so I'll go Star Wars.

they talk about it on a podcast called best movies never made, they have a whole episode devoted to it. worth a listen if you’re curious.

i don’t hate it. i don’t love it. i watched it a ton in my youth. i loved the news game. i think it does get a lot of undeserved hate.

perfectly alright! i think i saw jaws 2 on local tv a lot every summer, like how you saw jaws 3D. so maybe that plays into it. used to have the 3D trading cards for part 3. wish i still had those.

i don’t even think the shark at the end is that bad. does it realistic? no. of course not. it’s fiction and they’re trying to emphasize the 3D one last time. is it a fun moment when you see it when you’re little? totally.

i think they say it on the behind the scenes for jaws 2… you’re never gonna have the experience you had with jaws the first time because you know how the shark looks. so, i get it when people say they think there is too much of the shark in the second one. there is less in the third.

i’ll probably still buy this, because why not.

I think nostalgia plays a huge part in all of this collecting by all of us, for sure. Nostalgia and Lea Thompson.

The theatrical 3D Conversion from two years ago of the Original Jaws was absolutely outstanding. So sad there's no 3D Blu Ray for that.

Off topic, but does anyone know if this link for "Jaws" 4K UHD with original artwork is accurate? It's advertised as such on GRUV as well. Thanks.

This movie is so over the top though. The plot, the performances (Louis Gossett Jr. - RIP), there's so many great one-liners:

"He don't sleep in, he don't live in. You tell Shelby Overman for me he can take a flying leap in a rollin' doughnut on a gravel driveway, you hear??"

"Overman was killed inside the park, the baby was caught inside the park....it's mother is INSIDE THE PARK!"

"What you talkin' bout some...some...damn shark's mutha??!!"

"Daddy look at the fish!"
"HOLY SHIT!"

I can go on.

The 3D in AMityville 3D was pretty fantastic actually. Extremely deep backgrounds and very effective "pop-out" 3D gimmick shots. It utilized 3D very effectively, with many shots creatively composed to take full advantage of depth and layering.

The 3D blu-ray was not handled by the 3D Film Archive, as Shout decided to handle it themselves, so there was a fair amount of vertical alignment issues, which was common with many older 3D films and correctable if done right. The 3D blu-ray was also a pre-release print, with incorrect opening titles and a missing effects shot.

Jaws 3 3D was much worse, with many of the so-called gimmick shots involving extremely poor opticals like the famous shark through the window. The composition of the 3D photography was also nowhere near as good as Amityville 3D, appearing lackluster and uninspired. Add to that alignment issues, and the general poor quality due to the over/under single-frame 3D photogrpahy, and it comes off as quite poor.

The 3D conversion of the original Jaws that played in theatres a while ago was far better than the natively shot Jaws 3D from 1983.

LOL, I know, as I also have a soft spot for this one. I love the Sea World setting, and it just has such a great cast. Plus, as I saw you point out, it was just shown so much as a kid I practically know it by heart.

That said, this isn't one I'll be rushing out to get, even though I have the first two on 4K - mostly because I just can't imagine watching it in anything but 3D now that we can. I spent my whole childhood wishing we could see it in 3D, so I'm not giving that up now, LOL.

Yeah, it's especially the latter. Really, for me the cast of Jaws 3 is a collection of 80s favorites. Besides Thompson, we've got Dennis Quaid, Louis Gosset Jr., Bess Armstrong...

I remember some 3D trading cards.

No. Looks like they photoshopped the 4K banner on to the Blu-ray artwork.

They're delightful. 2D Photos on the front, and 3D illustrations on the back. Each pack came with a miniature pare of anaglyph red/blue glasses.

All that extreme chromatic aberration in glorious HDR & WCG. It's worth it just for the entertainment it will bring to forums.

I get you. Jaws 2 may be the better made movie, but boy is it a dull re-tread and a half of the first one. Jaws 3 isn't a great movie but more fun to watch.
