Oof. This was shot on a potato so it'll be real interesting to see how it scrubs up in 4K.

For real?! Yes Yes YES!!! A very nice surprise indeed. Very interested to see how this ends up looking considering the wanky-ass source. Not expecting much but excited nonetheless.

If Universal's willing to stoop to III on 4K it makes one wonder about Revenge's chances (I'd be right there for that one too). Extras-wise, I do kinda wish they were willing to licence the series to one of the boutiques but hey, this is Jaws 3-D -- for movie-only I'm down for Day 1. Fantastic announcement.

EDIT: Oops, just noticed the Revenge thread. Wow!!! But what's with Warner being listed as manufacturer?

Here's hoping the the Warner Bros distributor listing is merely a placeholder.

Either that, or it's a belated April Fools gag.

Since the SDS distribution tie-up between Uni and Warners then they're more or less the same entity as far as home video is concerned.

This is a big guilty pleasure for me, but I’m good watching the 3D version. Will be interested to see how this turns out though.

Ah, cool.

I watched the "flat" version of Jaws III at my local cinema when it came out, and even as a 10-year-old, I was aware that it looked bloody awful. There were smears of red and green/blue on the image, which almost looked as though they were playing it without the glasses. Obviously they weren't, but it's the worst I've seen a film look on the big screen - and I've sat through a 30-year old Spanish print of The Texas Chain-Saw Massacre! and a rough-as-@rseholes 16mm edition of Four Flies on Grey Velvet!

It'll be interesting to see what 4K can do for it.

I'm sure Cameron and/or Jackson could do a pass with AI to clean it up.

Jackson will add the digital shark and backlots.
Cameron can approve the transfer.
Win/Win for us, right?

Yep, the over/under 3D lenses they used had some horrendous chromatic aberration at certain focal lengths. And it's basically a Techniscope 2-perf movie in terms of its acreage on the negative, so again it's gonna be interesting to see what 4K can pull from it.

The 3D sequences were complete ass, only a slight step up from Amityville 3D.

I genuinely like this movie. Not because it's good necessarily, but because I saw if a thousand times on cable as a kid and because it's a cheesy fun time capsule. It's also nice it's unique, compared to 2 and 4 which just regurgitated the first movie.

That said, every BD had looked like ass, so...

Do you guys think we will get the theatrical artwork for this and Revenge? I know the BD version has the original artwork but the DVD release had different (and inferior) artwork. Do you guys think we will get new special features or will this likely be a bare bones release?

That scene when the shark comes to break the glass underwater, will stick as a sore thumb! Shark carboard cutout coming through!!! This movie only works in 3D, any 2D version sucks imo.
