The site was started in late 1978 and was, at the time, called www.beta-max.com

Yeah, the old links were great. I'd say the site has changed a little since then.

The news was likely started in 2002 - Blu-ray wasn't unknown when the founders made their announcement.

The forums started in May 2003.

I don't represent anything here, but I bet it would just change domain-names.
I think many people who come here and put their effort into this, have a hobby, a passion, anything, for film and movies.
So when there will be a next format that would have to replace the Blu-ray-disc, they would move along and it will be all about thát format.
I have no idea if this same community or the founders of this website had some kind of a "DVD.com"-website before,
OR that they were simply members of a then-existing DVD-dedicated website.

But yeah, you can be sure this community would probably move on to the next format.
Unless the creators and keepers of this website move on to other thing altogether.
I'm curious to know what would happen too though.

But at least the BD-format would probably stick around longer.
As they're coming out with larger capacity BDs, which they probably will have to use for the upcoming higher definition resolutions.
Not sure if that means having to buy new players though, but I'm pretty sure it will be used on the Blu-ray-format.

By the way green-ray was the only example I could think of.
The next format will be called... Violet-Ray Disc. Then you'll call it Vi-Ray Disc in short, and its initialism would be VRD.

Isn't that the colour following after blue light's wave length?

But the initials for Blu-ray Disc are BD, so Violet-ray Disc would be VD...which may be a hard sell.
