my somewhat snarky take on the matter is perhaps you should not have invested quite so much in HD DVD?

I dont see it as a bad investment. 50 HD DVDs and the player is a drop in the bucket. Ill replace them on BD, no problem. Im just saying, I wouldnt get rid of them for only $100, they still work and i can still watch them.
