Blu-ray would have already reached mass market adoption before this will even be feasible for most folks.

I read like 2 years ago in a magazine about the National Lambda Rail. Its an internet infrastructure thats like 2000 times faster than the current internet. Mostly used by universities for experiments and such.

So many insecure folks in here, hehe... If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen and none of you can do anything about it... Technology will move on without you and it won't look back, we all have BD now and it's great and I will support BD to the last day, I like it very much.. but I will also move along with the technology, if the grid will be implemented in a world wide scale I will get it and enjoy it as well, lighting fast internet speed? f**k yeah.

Some people expect the LHC to destroy the world. I'm surprised nobody mentioned it.

There is still a lot more to do before this can become a reality for everybody. New backbone pipes, probably new cables down the street and to houses. Just getting the backbones up to this new standard would take lots of money and lots of time.

I'm sure something like this is coming, but the capital outlays required are huge and will take a while to come about and then the companies are going to have to be able to recoup the money they spent so that means you will see a huge price spike which people may or may not be willing to pay - something like the new Comcast 50meg service for $150/month.

This is neat stuff, but years away from being ready for the average household.

$150 per month for 0 movie downloads. At one movie rental a day, the cost per rental is $5 just for to cover the Internet service.

Microsoft and its minions have forgotten the cost of the Internet service part when they declare physical discs dead.

Angry EVIL, Evil Microsoft ! X-Box Live !

I know for a fact that Micro prolonged the War ! The HD DVD duds had no clue to the evil that was up Micro's sleeve. Now, We find out that The Grid will be tested this Summer ! Damn Bastards ! http://www.gridtoday.com/04/0816/103659.html

They Will never, ever , beat, or even come close to the POWER of Blu ! Not now, not in the future, not EVER ! Back Stab the puplic will ya ? A big "NO DEAL" Goes out to this slimey underhanded wish ! Down loads will never, even come close to the feeling I get when I walk in to a store and put my, "Damn Dirty Paws" on an 5/5 PQ and 5/5 A/Q Blu Ray. Sneaky , sneaky, Micro! Oh they might get some fools who are too fat and lazy to download a movie, in 30 secs. But with no special features ? WHY ???????????????

There is an article in this week issue of HMM written by the editor. The article refences a recent study that indicate that "sales of Dowload to own films and TV series are expected to be miniscule in the next few years". If anyone want to read about it, use the link provided below:

I don't either but if you read the link The Grid will be 10,000 times faster than the internet ! Making the download time of a so called HD movie cut back from 2 hours to 30 sec. Micro backed HD DUD behind the scenes for YEARS ! Hoping no one would make a choice between HD and Blu. And win Micro was ready The Grid would be the winner. Not Blu Ray !

downloads will NEVER beat out bluray or ANY SOFTWARE ON A DISC OR MATERIAL UNLESS THE PRODUCT IS 50% CHEAPER THEN THE DISC AND IS 100% 1:1 OF THE DISC/MEDIA ON THE DISC. plain and simple if im asked to pay 30 smackers for a High Def movie im going to buy the disc so i get the artwork and case and of course the disc. downloads are good for episodes of tv show and music vids and thats it in my case. blu-ray win's over all..........didnt hd-dud run crying and tell you guys what we did to them? tisk tisk should have listened
