How "loud" did you have ID4 when this happened? I've listened to music at un-godly volumes in my younger days, and never had this happen. Either way, I think the best solution would be to find a replacement speaker on Ebay that matches the others.

I doubt you will find anyone to service a Bose speaker. It is also highly likely that the tweeter is moulded into the basket or frame since it is a coaxial speaker. If it is, then there is no option of screwing in a new tweeter. You may be able to scrap something if it is a bookshelf speaker but I wouldnt hold your breath.

Do yourself a favor and get a new pair of speakers. A decent set will prevent you from blowing prematurely

Sorry, I couldn't resist, but a new pair of quality speakers (not talking audiophile or multi-thousands of dollars) should last you for YEARS to come.

Ok, now I'll stay on topic! What you need to do dump those Bozos and get some real speakers like of set of Energy Series C speakers man. Those series C tweeters not only sound sweet when driven hard, but are hard blowing no matter how high you like to crank them up.

O.K. since I gave what I thought was my best advice (Find a new speaker on Ebay) I'll give some other possible advice....

Get to the same part of the movie, pause it, turn the knob on the reciever to the right until it's "maxed" then un-pause.

Now all your speakers will be timbre matched

or just to go radioshack and buy another $2.50 PAPER tweeter and hook it up and call it good
bose does NOT use quality parts thats where you went wrong from the get go

Sorry ny, but I agree with this. You need to get a higher quality pair so this wont happen again. Next time it might not just be your tweeter that blows. If you end up blowing a mid or larger.... that will be the end of it regardless.

You tweeter experts may be right. I did a thorough examination of my box and it definitely ruptured. The likely problem is that I input waaay too much power into that tiny little box, thus blowing my tweeter. I think I will sack my existing pair and replace them with Realistic brand speakers from Radio Shack. They're on sale for $29.99 for a set. For that price they better be able to handle a full load.
