Subs? Region coding?

And what happened to it, is it now OOP?

Anyone know?

No english audio track. In fact, the director had said there would never be one, which is partly why I bought the Japanese release. I prefer to watch it in Japanese with subs, but some friends don't.

It's not out of print, it's just closer to $80 or $90 now.

Mine's region A. Not sure what the current pressings are.

But those few scenes are definitely demo worthy...
Agreed.

Don't know if it has been posted but you can pre-order Gits S.A.C. trilogy here for only 287.49

Well my DVD of GitS Innocence died of Rot so I have been trying to score it on BR, I picked up the GitS 2.0 already, but my god finding Innocents is proving to be a right bastard, and there is no way I am going to pay 108.00 for it.

So whats the word on this ? Out of Print, are they doing a new remaster or something ?

I'd get this as soon as they come out with a decent BD release of the first GitS.

The UK release is cheap, region free, and has lossless audio (unlike the US release): http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001U3EONA/

The UK release has some minor translation problems with the subtitles, though: http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showpost....4&postcount=10

It's out of print. I did manage to find a less expensive (relatively speaking) solution. The Japanese "Absolute Editon" can be found @ HMV Japan for ¥5,724 shipped to the US, which translates to about $68 based on current exchange rates. You can also get it @ YesAsia for $71 shipped. It has lossless Japanese audio (the US release had only lossy audio) with English subtitles. As long as you don't need an English dub, this is the best BD of Innocence produced to date.

How about looking here?

IIRC the absolute edition was the version to buy.

I'd get it if it included the English track. I don't get why this is so hard to find in North America. Are they going to produce any more in the future?

The Manga UK dub is on that Blu-ray. Subtitles are wrong in a few spots. They used the same subtitle script from the UK DVD( which I own) and it has problems...to say the least..

The North American version from Bandai Ent. is out of print. That has two English dubs on it. The original Manga UK dub and a new English dub. It doesn't have lossless audio though. Still sounds good. I picked it up cheap awhile ago.

Bandai is in the habit of just letting things go out of print and never replenishing their titles. I have no idea why that is, but Bandai just sucks like that.

One thing that irked me about the now OOP release was that the subtitles translated the songs as well (the ones in Japanese). A little hard to appreciate the stunning title sequence when there's green subs at the bottom.

Picture and sound quality was very good though.

Ok, thanks for all the replys.

Never seen a few of those site for the BR's neat. I get most of my stuff local or from Amazon.

I do have a question thought, to the guy that suggested the UK version, as I am in the states arn't UK DVD/BluRays Pal vs NTSC ? Just an FYI I am very new to the bluray thing.

For the most part, I have DVD's, and only pick up certian BR's, like replacing my Rotted Innocence DVD I don't rebuy what I already have there would be way too much $$$ in doing that.

It is a bummer that the US release is just Out of Print I wasn't supper happy with the DVD release with no English Dub so I doubt I will buy a BR with it the same way.

Again, thanks

PAL/NTSC is not an issue with Blu-rays unless there is standard definition content (trailers, etc.) on the disc. SD content can be PAL, but most of the time it's NTSC.

Ok, got the BR yesterday, quite happy with the shipping time.

Movie and the commentary work fine.

The extras are PAL at least that is my best guess, it plays like a skipping reel to reel film ( if any of you all are old enough to remember those )

I can live without the extras, its typically just the voice actors fawning over each others profisinalism etc etc

Now just waiting on GitS: SSS to release.... I hope its a good transfer

I bought my copy little over a year ago from Hong Kong. It was less than $20 shipped. It comes in 2 discs(1BD, 1DVD) the second DVD disc having extras. It is BD-25 like the US and Uk editions with mpeg-2 encode and LPCM 7.1 lossless japanese audio with english subs(correct subs)
I watched it last year I remember overal video was pleasing. LPCM track is same as the first Japanese release.

Regarding Innocence, the UK release is on a BD-50.

Default OOP North American is the only way to go!

Amazon still has this and imo, it's worth the price because you get the English dubs with the US release. The UK release is cheaper but has only subtitles.

With a movie as good-looking as this one, reading subtitles becomes a huge distraction. (imo, subtitles are only useful with live action movies b/c you wanna hear the actors' real performances. With animation, who cares?)

Amazon has a few sellers with this for the $70-$80 range. I lucked out and for some odd reason, Amazon had it priced at $30 for a 2-week span that I pounced on. Couldn't believe my timing.

But if anything, this OOP disc will likely go up in value, so that may justify the price by some. Obviously, it's quite an expensive disc but worth it for the true viewing experience.

Not quite true. There are some releases in 1080i50 out there. Wallace and Gromit A Matter of Loaf and Death [UK] comes to mind, but there have been others. The Spanish release of [REC] is another one that I remember.
