I watched this for the first time today. It was cool. I'm glad I bought it.

The sound was amazing.

still not sure if I will get this. I'm just not a giant dave fan enough to buy his blu-ray. Although, I do like my NIN and Incubus blu-rays.

Count me as someone who can't stand Dave Matthews...

Chris Botti's 5.1 PCM track is 24/96 and 13.8Mbps!

I normally would have no desire to see this band whatsoever. I just visited The New Tier Thread For Blu-Ray at AVS, however, and it knocked POTC: DMC out of the #1 spot for best Blu-Ray PQ & Sound. At the very least, I have to Netflix it when they get it.

"This band" and Dave Matthews playing with Tim Reynolds are two VERY different things.

I was going to let this slide, but I thought instead to hell with it. I haven't gotten to bash anyone online lately who dared challenge one of my posts.

Definition of the word "Band"

1. a company of persons or, sometimes, animals or things, joined, acting, or functioning together; aggregation; party; troop: a band of protesters.
2. Music. a. a group of instrumentalists playing music of a specialized type: rock band; calypso band; mariachi band.
b. a musical group, usually employing brass, percussion, and often woodwind instruments, that plays esp. for marching or open-air performances.

I contend that "Dave Matthews playing with Tim Reynolds" (along with any other musicians involved) is a band. Perhaps not the band of which you are thinking, but a band nonetheless. I assume you are harmless so I won't push, but aren't you glad that I'm here to show you how wrong you are?

Dam, too bad its Dave Matthews!! I can't stand his music and I like ALL kinds of music. I hope they come out with more concert videos with this quality audio or even higher if its possible. AC/DC is coming to blu ray tomorrow I believe with uncompressed pcm!! The other video that people are raving about how good it sounds is Chris Botti. Who the hell is Chris Botti?? I haven't even heard his name spoken before, and now he has a featured blu ray video??

Back to the OP.

Awesome sound - even with just the DD track. I have no lossless and am a loser!

Great versions of some already awesome songs. (I got this during the buy-a-thon.)

I did a "blind" rent of the Chris Botti Blu-ray disk based on all the positive comments. Like you, I had never heard of Chris before so it really was a shot in the dark. A great show!!!!

Chris is a jazz trumpet player, and during this show he has his regular band plus a full orchestra. One of the best PQ & SQ Blu-rays that I have seen. Well worth at least a rent, if not a buy for demo purposes.

Default David Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Live at Radio City A stunner BD

link:

http://www.dvdfile.com/index.php?opt...=6415&Itemid=3

Video outstanding and stunner

"This is a great disc to pull from the shelf whenever you feel the need to demonstrate the virtues of high definition to a guest. "

Audio i like the most part of it..

"This was the first Blu-ray Disc that I’ve had the pleasure to review using my new Marantz SR8002 receiver with HDMI 1.3. I was able to decode the Dolby TrueHD stream internally in my PS3 and send the decoded PCM 5.1 24-bit/96kHz derivative via HDMI to my receiver with full quality. Once I managed to get my jaw off the floor, I spent quite a bit of time closing my eyes and toggling among the three soundtrack options to determine the unique sound characteristics of each one (doing my best to level-match when necessary) to see if I could discern if any presentation was superior to another."

"David Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Live at Radio City is a must-own Blu-ray Disc for any fan of these superb artists. Image quality of this live-shot HD material is stunning in native 1080p24, and I applaud Sony for not only giving us lossless audio, and for not only giving it to us in multiple forms, but for giving us boni-fide high resolution audio with 24-bit depth and 96 kHz sampling rate on the TrueHD track. It’s like an SACD/DVD-A with 1080p video along for the ride. A Blu-ray Disc set like this is a dream finally realized for audiophiles/videophiles like me who’ve waited years for optical HD media like Blu-ray Disc to bring this level of audio/video transparency to reality. What a fitting technical achievement to capture such an incredible musical performance. Highly Recommended."

Default Try Pat Metheny too!

I agree. My 5 month old son is mezmerized by it everytime I turn it on. Also check out the Pat Metheny disc. Pat plays I believe 4 different guitars just in the first track, and the percussion is amazing also. It's also a must own. Musical Performance discs have a much higher replay value than movies. (in my worthless opinion).

I was blown away by the quality and sound. Plesantly surprised. I love the Nine Inch Nails concert also. If you have a reciever with HDMI it will give your sub a workout. Did anyone get the David Guilmore release?

My brother bought a Blu-Ray player after hearing Dave and Tim on my player. He said it was the best 500 dollars he ever spent.

I am a fan-but I think it is great. The PQ is obviously above par compared to the other dvds-shot entirely on digitial-but the AQ is phenom. The venue allowed them to capture the intimacy of dave and tim. I was planning on going to show-but the bluray almost makes me glad I didn't go-it's pretty sweet.
