Talk from where?

I don't think there will be a video release at all. We need a damn DMB Blu-ray, I can't believe the atrocity that was Europe 2009. No Blu-ray (yet touted as being "filmed with 10 HD cameras"), no PCM stereo track on the DVD, just lossy Dolby 2.0 and Dolby 5.1.

Pah, I don't know what's going on with camp DMB right now. Their finger seems to be MILES away from the pulse.

There were cameras at the Dave /Tim show in Las Vegas . What I heard is that most of the time there are not cameras at the shows. If it follows the RCMH pattern , first the cd and then the DVD/Bluray.

You heard wrong, they record almost every show. Does not mean they will release a DVD/BLU. If they were going to it would have been at the same time as the CD, or at least announced with the CD release.

Admit that you just made it up in the hopes that it would be true.

Oh I was not stating any facts , just speculation on my part , and yes I hope it is true

I did read that most Dave / Tim Shows do not have camera crews , see below ,maybe you confused DMB shows with Dave and Tim shows , see link

They recorded every show in the 2003 Dave and tim tour and those never surfaced. They're not in the habit of releasing a DVD with every live cd. I own everything they've ever released as well as hundreds they haven't, pretty sure I'd have heard already if they were putting another BD out

That link you provided is suspect also, if it's not a Warehouse or official announcement it is likely bunk. They said "typically" do not film Dave and Tim shows but I have audio recordings of at least 45 shows, Dave mentions a camera crew in nearly all of them, including the previously mentioned 2003 spring tour (which was outstanding by the way)

I wasn't aware that they usually have video cameras at Dave and Tim shows, but they definitely are all recorded and archived in multi-track format to 24/96 audio, as are all D+T and DMB shows since April 1996. There are always cameras at DMB shows, but that's because there are always video screens for the people in the upper pavillion/lawn seats.

However you're right in that they would have at least announced a DVD at the same time as the CD if it were coming to video.

Anyway there are thousands of different legally taped DMB, D+T, DM and D+F sources up on http://www.dreamingtree.org and some are even better than the official releases because the tapers don’t compress and limit the audio like the official DMB Live and Live Trax releases have of late. Europe 2009 is way too loud, a quick analysis under Audacity of “You Might Die Trying” shows how compressed the song is, and that’s totally not needed because we all have volume knobs so we can turn it up ourselves.

Plus the tapers have been releasing loads of shows in 24-bit format since 2005 as well which is great.

Good, but the setlist is not the strongest. While it's nice to hear some of Big Whiskey acoustic it would have been nice to hear some rarities, far too many standards on this one.

My buddy, who is a platinum plus DMB fan, told me the reason there is no blu-ray lies with the band's video distributor (or whoever handles their video releases) - the company doesn't have blu-ray production capability. I find that ridiculous but even Dave has supposedly issued an apology to all the fans waiting for a blu release. The guy is in the fan club and I believe that's where the info is from.

That would be RCA through SonyBMG (now called Sony Music) - and they very much do have Blu-ray production capability. I'm afraid the information your friend received is not correct. Dave has not issued any apology - there is no video release for this show period.

The reason they didn't do Europe 2009 as a Blu-ray release is because they didn't feel the market was there, didn't want the extra costs and didn't want two SKU's for that product. It was a poor marketing decision, but has nothing to do with production capability.

Hey Steve,

If you had to choose one DMB album available on vinyl, which one would you recommend?

The only one - Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King.

Hopefully issues of the catalogue are forthcoming on vinyl - there was only one other release, 1998's Before These Crowded Streets (my favourite DMB album) but it was limited to 1,000 copies and goes for usually $250~$400+ depending on condition.

Big Whiskey is a great LP though and I confirmed that it was from a 24-bit master with Sterling Sound, a definitely improvement over the CD.

Before These Crowded Streets was also released on vinyl, although extremely hard to find.
