I haven't seen it yet (I'm in the wrong region, why region code a movie that is almost 20 years old ? MAKE NO SENSE), but from the accounts, it looks like they used the same transfert used for DVDs so far. So that would be a 2001 transfert, in accordance with FOX rules of only using obsolete HD transferts that are on the shelves for most catalog movies. After all, who cares ? You all going to rebuy this one when they redo a proper transfert in 2K or 4K in a couple of years anyway.

People keep saying that Fox's policy is only to use ancient tapes. It's simply not true

PB looks this way on the negative. Predator looks like crap on the negative, Robocop (which DID get a new transfer) looks like crap on the negative

We've had testimonials from people who ran these movies DAY ONE that says the same as above.

Such is the nature of 15 year old Super35 movies

They want Fox Europe/Japan/Australia/Wherever to get your money, as they are all responsible for their own performance

Yeah, I've never understood that but I doubt it'll ever change. At least the responses are usually somewhat entertaining.

Oh, by the way. I saw something in Batman: The Movie that I thought was kind of funny since grain is always such a hot topic. Their film machine (maybe it was called Film Developing Machine) has a sign on it saying "Super Fine Batgrain".

I bow to the wisdom of Zyclone (BR Guru) and DetroitSportsFan (BR King) about people can spend their money how they want to.

Like I said, I enjoyed Point Break and Batman: The Movie. I am an old comic book junkie and certainly plan to get both those movies.

My point is if we rush out and spend $35 for these average transfers on really old films (Batman at least), the studios will never lower prices. Why should they? Go ahead and buy these titles and beef up your collection, but not at $35 for either of those titles. What will the studios/market charge for The Matrix or (dare I say it) Lord of the Rings???

In my local Hastings there are two copies of Commando. Each selling for $35. They have had those same two copies since the movie was released on Blu. But nobody is jumping at these bargains. You can find the regular DVD version of Commando selling for less than $10 at Wal-Mart. The transfer and video codec for the Blu-ray Commando are not that hot. So the buying public figures why spend 3 TIMES the price of a normal DVD copy of Commando for a sub-par Blu-ray version? I will wait till some misguided person buys it and then returns it and pick it up for less than $20 (around $15 would be perfect).

I would say the average price I have paid for new Blu-rays is about $23. I have bought some at $29.95 (my goodness, even that is tooo high) and some at $19 or so.

I don't know, but when I see a store like Hastings or Sears selling Blu-ray movies for $35 I just wonder how much longer will it be before Joe Public catches on to Blu? They see those $35 prices and run for the hills. But if we can keep the prices down to below $25 it just might catch on.

There were about four or five forced trailers before the menu on this one. Is Fox going all Disney on us or have they always done this and I'm just forgetting?

In any event, hitting the skip chapter button a few times isn't very difficult.

Who is saying that the quality of the transfer on Batman is not up to par? I just looked at the review on it over at HDD and Bracke gave it a 4.5 for PQ and 4 stars overall. He's usually over-critical in my opinion, so I can't wait to see it myself

I ordered Batman purely for nostalgic reasons anyway so a nice transfer is just gravy. Point Break is a title I probably wouldn't pay $15 for. Just not a fan of Keanu.

That's a hefty price for an older movie. It's your money, I guess.

If you live in Canada, 35 bucks is the going rates for Fox on Blu. Since I have money to burn I will be blind buying this.
