Cmon people, be nice. The op is just showing a little enthusiasm. So what if he overpaid in your eyes, to the op it made sense to buy it.

While I could care less about the title, there are probably a couple of titles I might over pay to have a few days before release. One way to avoid this is to not visit a B & M store on or near release days.

+1. I usually have no desire to get a movie early unless its a huge 1 i missed in theatres and really wanna see but sometimes even then i buy a BD and may take a week or maybe a month sometimes for me to watch so getting early and getting price raped just dont cut it for me

I bought Independence Day on release day at $27.95 price tag and yet to watch (even thou my plan now is to watch it July 2nd or 3rd ) and paid this high price for the movie and since then theirs been tons of sales for way cheaper than what i paid

$35 for Point Break and $28 for ID4. You must be kicking yourself if you can get ID4 with all the B2G1 or the last 2 for $30 sale at Best Buy. Point Break is one of my wife's favorite movies, but $35 is a rip off for a catalog movie.

Greatest movie of all time...I give 10/5 in movie quality. It is doublely good. The picture quality is so good that it looks like (insert name of devine being here) supervised the transfer. Point Break is what all other movies are compared to. Godfather is only as good as the first 10% of Point Break.

A person on another forum got it early and wasn't impressed unfortunately with the picture quality. I'll stay tuned for opinions here.

Quote:
Firstly, I have to believe this film is 17 years old - then I can admit to it showing its age in glorious 1080P resolution. The transfer, as are most from Fox Blu-ray, is solid. Unfortunately, the nature of the cinematography stylings doesn't particularly invite compliments for this MPEG-4 AVC codec image. There are plenty of dark scenes and others with a herky-jerky 'un'steady cam (foot and car chases, surfing, skydiving, bank robbing etc.). Noise is very minimal and there are a few white dot speckles (probably only noticeable through obtaining captures) but strong detail rarely rises the visuals to the profound Blu-ray level that some may be anticipating. There are some highs but the limitations are probably more to do with the film's age than anything else. All the outdoor sports activity scenes don't advance to the level of more modern film transfers. Colors look fairly true and don't artificially jump off the screen. This is probably something we need to get used to - 1080P can't (and shouldn't) push the image to better than it inherently is capable. As vintage films surface in this new format we may appreciate this to a much higher degree. It all looks very adept but my 'Wows' weren't coming in bunches. Still, miles ahead of an SD counterpart and the best digital representation of the film to date. It's dual-layered (the film itself is on over 33 Gig) and it probably can't look much better.

Great movie but not paying $27.95 + tax (f*ck you Gov. Patterson) for it, should be at least $10 less
