Default Iron Man slip cover modification

For those that don't like the slip cover on Iron Man and don't like the cover art, you can try what I just did. I modified the slip cover and made it my cover art. That is if you were planning on throwing out the slip cover anyway or not using it.

Step 1. Cut the slip cover down the middle on the right where you will need the opening to be.

Step 2. Cutoff the top area that is Blue with the Blu-ray logo.

Step 3. Turn slip cover over and center the cover art on top of the opened slip cover. Make sure the center of the slip cover and cover art are lined up. Draw a cut line around the slip cover with a pen or pencil using the cover art as a guide. Then cut along that line.

I also decided to cut the bottom portion so I line up the cover art along the top edge.

Step 4. Not neccessary but it makes it fit better in the case. I took the cut up slip cover and went to each corner, used my nails, and peeled away basically the layer of card board. This thins out the slip cover significantly. It gives it a better fit. If you don't do this step, the cover will fit but it forces the BD case to open it self. It also makes it hard to engage the clips to close the case.

Step 5. Insert the modified slip cover over the cover art in the BD case. I only did this so i won't have a hole in the area of the UPC.

The pictures were taken after completion. I didn't think about taking pictures while I was doing it. Plus I wasn't sure how it would come out. Sorry about the quality of the pics. It was taken with my phone.

Isn't there a web site that offers dozens of Blu-ray cover art designs that can be printed to replace the commercial ones? I know I saw that right here on Blu-ray.com. Now I can't find it. I'll bet they will have a new Iron Man cover soon (if not already).

I don't know who creates the alternate BD cover art, but some of them are AMAZING. There are some talented artists out there in cyberspace.

Anyone have a link to that site? Pinoy: you might know. Please post the link if anyone knows URL. Thanks.

It bothers me a little because I toss out all the slipcovers...they're really stupid and completely useless.

In the grand scheme of things, though, as long as the spine says Iron Man, that's all I need.

I thought about that, but the you won't get the same quality as the slip cover. Plus the slip cover has that reflective print that you won't be able to duplicate with a home printer.

And if you were planning on either not using or throwing out the slip cover, why not atleast try it.

You are right about the quality. Good job using your slip case.

Thanks, I figured I'll post this up since many people are disappointed with the cover art and don't like using the slip covers.

Gonna try this when I get home, If I mess it up I won't be too bothered as I usually throw the slipcovers away.

Thanks for posting

I use either flyer paper or photo paper to get that reflective effect that someone before mentioned.

I walked out of Best Buy and tore mine before I reached the car. Then I almost immediately remembered that I had done basically the same thing as the OP with my TF slip cover (Once I noticed how plain-Jane the Iron man cover art was).

Maybe I'll take it back to Best Buy and try to do an exchange, claiming a "damaged disc" when the truth is "operator's error."

I used to do things like this with my DVD's but eventually,... I regret it.

So.... I'll just live with the packaging as is... I sort of like it anyway.

I won't regret it cause I never use the slip covers. Plus I kept the original cover art underneath the modified slip. I even mentioned it in another thread that if anyone wants my slip covers from my pirates movie to just let me know.

It will be reflective but not the same. The Iron Man cover is like a metallic type of reflection.
