Arrow Iron Man 2: Whiplash concept art:

Quote:
Earlier this morning I got this tip in my inbox...

Supposedly, it's Mickey Rourke as the Iron Man sequel's henchman WHIPLASH.

I have no way of confirming it's authenticity so be warned that this could be a fake too!

Regardless, I think it's pretty cool and worth posting...

We'll know soon enough if it's legit or what not.

What do you guys think?

Check out the pic below.

Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow Samuel L. Jackson Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Garry Shandling, and John Slattery all star in The Jon Favreau-directed sequel.

Iron Man 2 is due out May 7, 2010.

Another update via Favreau's twitter:

Just got back from dinner with Kevin Feige and Robert Downey. We're nearing the halfway point in production.
about 21 hours ago from TwitterFon

Now that would've been a cool lunch to be at!

Weird. I'd rather have seen Crimson Dynamo myself. But eh, we'll see.

Saw it earlier, looks pretty sick. A bit ambiguous, but sick nonetheless.

In this irrelevant bit of news...
http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=7592

...there's on interesting part...

Quote:
Apparently, Gwyneth has been left exhausted by a series of strenuous scenes and and is now taking a two-week break from filming. The on-set source added, “Gwyneth and Scarlett have never been particularly close. Gwyneth was looking forward to working with EMILY BLUNT, who was originally in line for the part, but it ended up being Scarlett. Gwyneth’s had to live with that and she has been very professional, but she and Scarlett haven’t developed a friendship on the shoot, which is almost at the half way point. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.”
That impressed me, at least. They won't take as long to film as I was worried they would, although post production will be murder, I'm sure.

And the concept of Whiplash, if true, could be really cool.

Looks awesome. Suprised that you can see his face though. Perhaps that's because it's just concept art. I like it, though. A lot cooler looking than what Whiplash looked like in the comics.

Whiplash was pretty lame in the comic and Iron Man doesn't have much of a rogue's gallery so they should change him as much as possible from the original. The mandarin and fin fang foom were pretty cool, though.

here is what the original Whiplash looked like, let's all point and laugh at him children. they later changed his name to "Blacklash"..yes "BLACKlash"....

that new rendition OP posted kinda looks like a cosmonaut without a helmet. I say Cosmonaut, because of the "red' in the suit...

I don't know which is worse - his 70's pimp outfit, or his 90's Gimp outfit.

70's Pimp is always much cooler. The S&M suits are meh. Hated the leathers in X-Men.

Still like Favreau's quote that, darn, "Mummy 3 used both the Mandarin and FFF!"

(And although the Mandarin wasn't in the first movie, we'll assume everyone noticed that the terrorist cell was part of a group calling themselves The Ten Rings?...)

Iron Monger
And even though Obadiah was never mentioned by villain-name in the first movie, he does drop the hint by telling Tony, "That's what we do, we're iron mongers!"

(But anyway, the photo?--Looks fan-pasted, but we'll see.)

The concept art looks familiar to how Whiplash is being presently shown in the curerent issue of Iron Man (known as Invincible Iron Man for the purists out there.) A slightly downgraded IM armor that Tony thinks of as a cheap copy could make for some screen fun.

I'm beside myself waiting for this. I wanted more immediately after I left the theater last year!
