Arrow Jon Favreau on Whiplash and War Machine in "Iron Man 2"

It's been a few weeks since we've had an Iron Man update. Favreau spoke briefly about Cheadle and War Machine and how he fits in the movie. And Rourke spoke a bit about Whiplash and the suit he's using in the film:

Quote:
With the filming of "Iron Man 2" reaching the halfway point, director Jon Favreau and star Mickey Rourke opened up a bit about the title character, Jim Rhodes/War Machine and villain Whiplash.

"Tony's expected to be a role model and I don't think he's ready to be one," Favreau told Empire. "He's under a great deal of pressure and when you're under pressure, I think you find outlets for that. That's one of the tensions of the film: it's one thing to say you're Iron Man, and another thing to actually become Iron Man."

Favreau hinted that Rhodes (Don Cheadle), will be tooling up big-time when he dons his own armored suit as War Machine. "Rhodesy is definitely stepping up in this film. Let me put it this way: Tony's not the only person with technology in the film."

"I'm having the time of my life," said Rourke about portraying the new Iron Man nemesis Whiplash. "It's been really brutal, because my Iron Man suit weighs 23lb. It's sort of a half-suit, with half my skin showing, with lots of Russian tattoos, because [Whiplash is just] out of a Russian-zone prison."
Just trying to maintain some excitement for this

Rourke's a big guy, and he's describing wearing a 23 lb. suit as.... "brutal"?!

Stoked on seeing the movie though, can't wait

Gee whiz bang, can't wait. Just wondering how Jon Favreau will explain:
1) Everyone knows who Iron Man is since his reveal at the end of the 1st film. Will he be safe at home since Nick Fury of s.h.i.e.l.d can enter quietly into his home but the villian can't touch him in the new film.
2) Will this be a cliche of Cheadle's Rhodes character becoming warmachine & suit up at the last minute to save iron man.
3) Too bad other marvel heros won't show up even though Nick Fury mentioned others since the $$$, I meant the story hasn't been established.
4) Hey Rhodes , you sure look different, plastic surgery? -- lol.

Note to self: sneak in alcohol to play another drinking game & take a sip whenever liberties are greatly taken during opening day.

You should do that with Transformers 2, instead. You'll be completely shitfaced within 20 minutes.

it must get really hot and uncomfortable in those suits. they do long shoots and sometimes they can't take the suits off during breaks.

But he said he has a half suit, so he's getting plenty of air circulation... Just sounded a bit weird when our soldiers are in the desert and mountains with like 80 lbs of gear, and he said 23 lbs was "brutal"

Now I can understand that the shooting is definitely brutal with stunt scenes and what not, but it was just his wording that sounded off, lol

The weight of the suit may not be what Rourke meant to say. 23lbs is awfully light even for an old man. I think he was moreso trying to convey that the suit is restrictive. That it may keep him from moving his arms/legs/torso or whatever in certain directions.

possibly what he meant
but 23 pounds is still probably pretty tiresome for him while doing stunt scenes (the ones he does himself)
