You can just tell from this one chorus that Little Brother is a great group

"This is a message for our people chasing benjamins
With real rhymes and skills they believing in
Keeping them bad tapes rolling like michellin
it don't matter, cause *****z ain't listening
They ain't listening, they thinkin bout they timbalands
They say the shit we talk about ain't interestin
We got a better chance of blowing up in switzerland
Holla if you hear it cause *****z ain't listening"

i haven't kept with hip hop like a lot here and it's not been something i was into really. college rock and all that encompassed was my thing. but i always kept my ear open to hip-hop and dug all the old school hip-hop. hip-hop these days has strayed too far from its roots. i really think in the 80's and early 90's hip-hop was a real art form, but when real big buttloads of money could be made from hip-hop it started becoming less relevant like it was originally. i don't have any favorite songs, but there are several artists that i admired. here's a short list:

l.l. cool j
beastie boys
arrested development
queen latifah
run dmc
public enemy
mc lyte
salt n' peppa
ice-t
digable planets
common
mos def
the roots

i can't really think of any others at the moment. i'm sure i'm missing some.

Beastie Boys are in my top 5 groups of all time. Though their rhyme scheme always stayed the same, the music was always a complete different sound from the previous album. So their versatility musical and influence on the genre as a whole makes them one of my favorites of all time.

The instrumental album? Yeah I love it, and I love how its their lowest rated album with a 3.5 out of 5 on Allmusic. Everything else is 4 stars +

That's the truth if I ever heard it. Both of those guys are two of the greatest of all time. Hands down.

I grew up on 3 main hip-hop albums. Beastie Boys (License to Ill), LL Cool J (Bigger and Deffer), Eric B. and Rakim (Paid in Full).

"4 and 3 and 2 and 1, and when I'm on the mic the suckers run!" MCA was the man.

I played these on cassette and made the transaction cd as well. I need to replace my "Paid in Full", somebody creeped me again. LOL

Nas, I still got "Illmatic", "Stillmatic", "I am", "The Firm", and "It Was Written".
I am going home and knock the dust off a few of my cds and crank up the Polkaudio speakers.

What is their best album? I downloaded The Minstrel Show and And Justus for All last night, but haven't listed to either yet.

For me it goes: Minstrel Show, The Listening, and Getback. Justus for All is a mixtape, and I think there is two of them. One of them has all the dudes from NC on it.

But its all 3000000% better than whats out toda.

you know i don't care for kanye. he's not all that he thinks he is. his attitude and diva behavior is a real turn off. everytime i think about buying one of his album i am reminded of what an ass he is. then i get mad and put the cd back.

When you compare Kanye to other artists in the mainstream (wayne, soulja) and everyone like that...I would be pissed too.
