None so far, but a friend of mine has been considering getting a PS3 for a while. I think he's gonna wait for a price drop though.

My father. That's it. All my close friends are broke college students like I masquerade as, . They all see and hear the difference, but can't afford it/have no need for it at the moment.

Relatives, same.

None. Anyone I try to convert thinks I am crazy and say I am wasting my money. That being said, I have met a few neighbors in my community who embrace blu-ray. Surprisingly, one is 21 and another is 17. They both have PS3.

Parents thats it.... They actually didn't notice much of a difference until they rented a dvd, then bam they noticed and could barley watch. I feel good that I made a difference with atleast someone unlike all my friends who basicly disregard my information as a myth because nothing can be better that dvd, xbox and vista...sigh.

This is the same why i do it, I just put on the Matrix on and switch back and forth, and just blow them away I had my 6 year old nephew asking his dad why they can't see movies that clear at home.

I converted at lease 5. Two are newbies and 3 are x-HD DVD folks. And I know that some of those have converted some of their other friends to Blu. It's a wild fire.

don't you mean bushfire?

on the horizon, the landscape's burning red
bushfire---smoke in your eyes... smoke in your eyes
if you feel something, that makes you warm all over
if you got a fire and you can't put it out---got a bushfire
rolling through a field of molten flowers
burning in a field of molten flowers
there's a bushfire---there's a bushfire burning---yeah

bushfire! bushfire! bushfire!......

My wife.

But I guess that doesn't count. I knew I had her won over after she stopped buying or renting DVDs.

Only one so far, but I'm only a month in myself. One of the people at work decided she wanted to get a Blu-Ray player, but upon further investigation I found out she doesn't have an HDTV. So much work to do yet...

2... My best friend bought a PS3 60GB after he saw a Blu-ray playing on mine. My brother-in-law got a standalone after I showed him Ironman DVD vs Ironman Blu-ray. Still working on the rest. The economy isn't helping and I doubt Obama will help matters any.

During the war, I used to stand in the Hi-def isle at BestBuy and help random strangers overcome their ignorance.

I once convinced a guy to put down his HD-DVD player and go Blu with a PS3.

I voted 1-5, although I haven't quite gotten it yet. My parents have a nice 47" LCD, and I've showed them on their TV just how good "Planet Earth" looks, but they're still hesitant because of the prices. My Dad was easy to bring over to the Blu side, but my Mom controls the wallet.

They recently added a screen right in the Blu-ray aisle at my local Best Buy. Kinda wish they'd put a crappy CRT right next to it with analog over the air network TV playing on it for immediate comparison. But heck, they could feed the Blu-ray into the CRT and it would still show a blatant difference.

Higher adoption rates means more and better movies coming to BD. It's also improved quality for them as well. Not saying you should push people to do what they don't want to, but you shouldn't be totally neutral either. It's a mutually beneficial situation here; they get better movie quality, and you get more movies released.

I haven't converted anyone myself, but since I'm loose with money, I'm splurging on Christmas presents this year: got myself a great deal on a 199 dollar player on Amazon where it ended up only costing me 99 bucks, and it's gonna be going to my mom (and my immediate family will use it too). Either way, we've got 1200+ DVDs, and she still watches those on a 720p screen on composite cables through the VCR.

Does it count as converting if you buy the thing for them when they refuse to pay the big bucks for themselves?
