Default Getting people converted to Blu-Ray

Now that the "war" is all but over, the attention is now diverted to that monolith known as "Standard DVD."

I've managed to convert THREE people so far to Blu-Ray since Christmas by playing a bit on the egos of my friends. Yeah, kind of sneaky.

I now refer to standard DVD as "Low Def". It really has gotten a few of my friends goats (they already had 720p or higher TVs and one of them had an upconversion DVD player.) Just by referring to it as Low Def and showing them what mine did - it was a quick sell. I'm going with the third friend to pick up his new PS3 this weekend (and yes, I've talked all three into PS3s, as they are very interested in using their computers as a DLNA music server).

For the X-Box 360 vs PS3 debate, my argument was "okay, so it is supposedly 720p, but the DVD itself is just a DVD - so how are you really getting hi-def gaming off of that, isn't it just an upconvert?" PS3 was then chosen because of that, as well as the Blu-Ray player capability.

Anyone else having luck getting people on board? Strategies?

I really think toying with the ego and referring to standard as "Low Def" was the final straw with these folks.

And no, I'm not some weird Blu-Ray fan that is just trying to convert the masses (not that I need explanation here), it's that I believe that Blu-Ray (and PS3) is the way to go.
