Not really. They are metropolitan areas who have put all their eggs in one basket so to speak; the automotive industry. Areas with much more diversification of industry will fare much better in rough economic times. The economy of the city that I live in is expected to grow over the next five years, and indeed jobs are being added here at a decent clip.
