I don't charge more then I can spend. I am not always good about paying on time, but I always pay the full amount

I don't believe in living over my means.

17K. Yes I have dug a DEEP hole. This one is a little hard to get out of but I am starting to make a dent. Then B of A ups my interest rate from 7% to 30%. They said I was a risk even though I had never missed a payment. On the upside I truly have everything I want and need and so does my family.my wife and I drive nice newer cars, newer house and a great. Home theatre. Now it is time to pay for it. I will not contribute to this economic dowfall. I work hard and pay my bills, on time.

My wife drives an 07 civic SI and I drive an 05 EVO. Ya, those are not included in the 17K. I know I have debt. Some would say I am in trouble but. I can work more and pay off. I have klearned my lesson and will not get in this hole again. I'm not worries though.

usually around $500 every month but they're paid off every month. The only reason i use it is to maintain and build credit.

$0! In fact, $0 debt at all.

No credit card debt, no student loan debt, car's paid off, nothing. I owe a dollar to my little sister, that's it.

WONDERFUL feeling, especially when even at this age, a bunch of my friends are already in debt, whether from graduating and student loans (UM is expensive, huzzah for my full ride), or just reckless credit card spending.

My motto has always been to not spend money I don't have. So even with my HT purchases, everything was cash, nothing credit.

I am just under you with about $15k with my boyfriend (his debt, not technically mine). We moved out here to go to college and have no family financial support for college. His parents make too much for him to get financial aid and we both go to school full time.

Needless to say, it's a lot of debt, but it's mostly for food and living, car maintenance, insurance, life necessities (yeah, we are also a bit impulsive at times)... the good news is that when my grants come (about $5k/semester) at the beginning of each semester, it drops it significantly.

We expect to be just below $10k by the end of this month (beginning of a new semester!)... and completely paid off by October.

I've been debt-free for 5 years now! I use my CC for gas and car maintenance mostly. It is never more than $500/mth and gets paid right away!

I have a good amount which can all be attributed to being impatient, greedy, spoiled, careless, and unprepared. That's changing, but while I know the amount of non-secured consumer debt I have lumped in ALL my debts into a single lump sum amount (which I will not share) and am concentrating on paying it off entirely.

Having a job where I'm not worried about layoffs or downsizing has resulted in me not being quite so much in 'panic' mode about incurring debt but now I'm sick of it and HATE debt. I will never get another loan, with the exception of (possibly) a mortgage. Period.

I won't share my cc/student loan debt, but let's just say that I plunk around 5k/month into debt reduction and will for the next year or so. Most of that is voluntary-I could cut it way down if need be.

Yeah. I find it hard to believe BoA would up somebody's rate like that, for no reason. Generally you'd have to miss at least a few payments. But who knows. It definitely sucks.

I'm glad I don't have that much. After ~6 years of school (undergrad + grad) I'm glad that I only have a mid-four-digit amount to pay back (almost entirely food and car expenses). It makes me sad just thinking about it, but I have a friend who will owe about 150k by the time they finish school... and by school I don't mean medical or law school, which might've made it easier to swallow, knowing a high salary was eventually coming.

At least you are getting it paid off ASAP. I can't wait until I have a mortgage, and have that lingering over my head for years.
