If this is a thread about who should be Mayor of Minneapolis, then only the artist recurrently known as Prince qualifies. It is only suitable for the good natives (I am non-native and proud of it) of the People's Republic to elect Prince, since they have already made laughing stocks of themselves by electing Jesse Ventura and Al Franken.

Prince is definitely the more talented musician, but you cannot deny the genius that was Thriller. 9 tracks, seven of which were singles! The best selling album of all time.

Jackson only wrote four of the songs though, co-written by Quincy.

Prince is a far more prolific songwriter.

My vote was for Prince.
And if you notice, after Quincy left MJ started going down hill...coincidence? I think not!

It's funny cause I used to think MJ did the music for burtons batman..... but while watching it on TV the other night I laughed for that reason. Man I was young!

just because a ho has a long career doesn't mean anything. madonna can't trump anyone musically. heck venessa hudgens is better than madonna. shoot, the cat on the fence is better. of course this isn't saying much because about anything is better than madonna. what has madonna done lately? oh yeah, she put out an album that tanked big time. the dern thing came and went faster than most call girls.

Maybe in the US. It was a HUGE hit worldwide...and it still went to #1 here as well. Plus it gave her a top 5 hit as well.
Oh yeah...and she just broke her own record for highest grossing tour ever.

The guitar solo at the end of Lets Go Crazy is what got me hooked on Prince.

Have you seen the video of him doing this sick solo at the end of While My guitar Gently Weeps?

We are talking from a musical point of view here right ? I'll go Michael Jackson because he has lots of cool songs compared to Prince who only has a few (in my opinion only).

As for the persons behind the music. Both MJ and Prince are whimsical so I would go for none.

Prince is an accomplished musician who played almost every instrument of his first few albums. He's also recognized as one of the best guitar players in modern music.
He writes his own material, and also has creative control of his music and his image, allowing him to release music as he wishes through the internet and traditional CDs.

Michael Jackson told people to call him the 'King Of Pop'. He wrote very few of his songs and doesn't play any instruments. His fame in the last 15 years exists only from his tabloid-baiting.

So my answer is Prince.

Great post, and every bit about Michael is right, after Quincy left him he went down fast.

Yup. The 'King Of Pop' title dates back to the HISstory greatest-hits set. he sent out press releases telling the media to refer to him as the King Of Pop. Puh-lease...
