I watched Quarantine and actually liked it. I've never been a big fan of the 'shaky camera' films. They don't make me queasy or anything, but I've just never liked any of them until Quarantine. Jennifer Carpenter was a solid lead, too.

I know people loved Cloverfield, but after I watched it, I thought it was the most over hyped film I'd ever seen. I didn't enjoy at all.

I suppose the only similiarities between the two are the filming style... with that said, I prefer Q.

Finally watched Quarentine. I assumed I'd hate it because of the negative feedback, but I enjoyed it.

Blair Witch got all hyped up, saw it and yes it was creepy. The only thing that saved the movie for me though, was the ending. Basically, I've forgotten the rest and skipped a bunch of chances to watch it again.

Cloverfield...waste of time.

I get so drawn into movies that I forget the shakey handheld camera's are supposed to recording the footage. Doesn't bother me at all physcially, and I find it does add to the suspense to see a quick glimmer of something then have to wait for the person recording to pan back.

I liked them both. There have been more hand held camera films lately-[REC], Diary of the Dead, Cloverfield, and Quarantine. Like them all.

I didn't mind "Quarantine" at all. The camera movements made sense; the plot was okay; the characters were not bad.

I hated "Cloverfield." Even though the alien thing was cool, the camera movements were horrid. The plot was not very revealing, and the characters were terrible.

Least favorite camcorder-type movie of all time: "Open Water." It had a good, scary idea, but I hated the characters, the plot, and the photography (or rather, I hated the whole thing).

That's what I think in a nutshell.

Blair Witch was just the first major success in that format.
Last Broadcast was great. I haven't seen Cannibal holocaust yet, I'll have to add it to the list! Love Cinema Verite Horror...

And even though it was a BLATANT attempt to cash in on the Blair Witch craze at the time, I also enjoyed The St. Francisvile Experiment. Sucker for cinema verite horror and haunted house movies, so put 'em both together and you're pretty much got me.

I thought Cloverfield was a better movie than Quarantine, but the shaky cam in Cloverfield made me queasy, while Quarantine did not.

What a dumb thread, comparing a bad remake of a great film, to a pretty bad monster film from overrated jj abrams.

Next.

Ya but I'd still take Blair Witch and Diary of the Dead over the other two.

I only saw Cloverfield but I will recommend it to anyone and everyone. some people are down on it but I've never really understood why. It's a great thrilling experience, and while I obviously can't be sure I think it gets as close to feeling like you are in that situation with the characters as possible... at least as well as any movie I've ever seen.

I own the dvd and blu (last new release dvd I bought!) and I've watched it a couple of times since the theatres. interesting commentary track, nice picture, good disc.

I fail to see what more needs to be said...

Don't even bother with Quarantine, just watch [Rec]. Acting on both aside, Quarantine is just a shot for shot remake, but the bad thing is, the "shots" aren't as good as the original.

I don't think much needs to be said about Cloverfield either. It's a mediocre monster movie with no depth what-so-ever (for the monster). It attempts to have depth for the characters but the reality is that I just don't care about their Dawson's Creek, poorly written, problems. Likewise, for a film that strives to feel "real," the entire premise is completely unrealistic. Some guy is not gonna go charging into a city being devastated by a monster for some girl he's slept with once. I feel no connection or "love" from these characters. The only character I actually felt any connection to was the funny fat one who cracked jokes the whole time,
[Show spoiler]it was sad that he got eaten.

I'll say Cloverfield for now, though I also own Quarantine and need to see it again. I'd like to throw My Little Eye into this, but the vid cameras were mounted, not handheld...plus it's not on blu.
