I'm more curious about your disdain for Vizio and Walmart. Pushing an agenda?

I'll reiterate: I am an informed consumer; I bought a Vizio and I love it. Looks every bit as good as my parents' Samsung and my brother's Sony. Does it have all the bells and whistles? Of course not. Does it do the job? Absolutely.

I got mine from Costco or Sams or something. If I don't like it, or if it breaks, I get to return it at any time within 3 years for a full refund --- no questions asked.

Equating all Vizio owners (or even Wal-Mart shoppers) to brainless cheapskates is funny. Surely this site is full of people who are NOT snobs when it comes to HD technology. I'm certain I just misunderstood some of the above posts.

Plasma was the only TV technology to see year over year sales in 2008 and set record #'s for shipments in Q4/08, the quarter most affected by the economy. The 42" plasma's are a great size for the average consumer and are cheaper on average than other sets from similar manufacturers. You wouldn't know than Sanyo still make plasmas unless you went into a Wal*Mart.

Here's some good reading - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=86487

I think you clearly did. I'm reading his posts in this thread and I don't see how anyone would extract those sentiments from his posts.

I think you clearly did. I'm reading his posts in this thread and I don't see how anyone would extract those sentiments from his posts.

1) No idea what they are --- I didn't ask them for their product numbers.

2) Where I bought it from --- again, no idea. I can't tell the two stores apart, quite honestly. If my wife told me to drive to Costco, there's a 50/50 chance I'd go to Sam's. I rarely go out shopping at those type of places.

3) Good, I'm glad I did. Thank you for correcting me.

My first DH Tv was a Vizio and it went out in a month and a half! Bought it from Sears and returned it and the sales rep told me that I shouldnt have bought the tv in the first place because Vizio is a low end HD tv. He was right. I have no clue if the quality of Vizio has changed or not and I really dont care but for the life of me I will NEVER own another Vizio HD tv again. I am a Sony guy and will stick with Sony. They have never let me down with anything I have ever bought with the Sony name on it. I did own a 32inch Samsung HD after my Vizio nightmare and it was a really good little HD but I had to go bigger and got my 46inch Sony because my loyalty is with Sony bottom line.

I'm very happy with my Vizio. Westinghouse... now that one pissed me off. It was my first HDTV, and it was only a 27" model. So I do some research - turns out a lot of Westinghouse's models have audio sync issues where the audio gets further and further from the video the longer it's left on.

This happened to me. Next - there was NO ANAMORPHIC MODE. The only picture options were to zoom, do that dumb "panorama" thing, or to use standard. The ONLY way to get actual widescreen was with an HD signal - this was before I got my PS3, btw.

And then it died after one and a half weeks. I've had my Vizio for about a year now, and the only problems I've ever had were minor inconveniences, one of which was more likely the fault of the equipment attached anyway.
