HD-DVD disks sales numbers - Blu-ray Forum

a fiew week ago hd-dvd said that there were aroudn 1.6 million hd-dvd sold since launch
now does this included all the free movies??
i mean 500k hd-dvd players and 3-10 free movies with Each
that would be over 1,6 million disk
soo have they givein away more movies that they have sold or does the 1.6 included the free movies??

Good question but I believe they can only count sales figues for actual units sold, but i'm not sure. The only way they can get rid of those duds is to just give it away, soon they will be garage sale items.

They love to fudge numbers and spin data and lie and cheat all the time.... so who knows how they count this. For all i know they might count each disc in a box set as a separate sale! I doubt they'd stoop that low, but I wouldn't put it past them either.
So what is the BD number?

I think last tally I read, they sold 1.6 million copies of TF.....so that must be the only thing they have sold

Same can be said for BR so get over it. My god.

PS3 gave away SP3 and Tallageda(sp?) Nights and Casino Royal.

PS3 gave away 10 free movies at Walmart plus 5 free mail in

Every BR player you buy you get 5 free moives.

Panasonic 10A BR Player came with 5 free movies and 5 free mail

See how the same can be said for BR.

THEY DO NOT COUNT THESE..

I have to laugh how people get so wrapped up in this crap..

Who cares what HD DVD does. BR is kicking the crap out of them and thats all that matters.

hmm...we all already know how toshiba will spin numbers in their favor. they probably count the used hd dvd on ebay as sales

I think thats the number of stand alone hd-dvd players and xbox 360 add-ons combined, I think I read it on hidef digest.

If these numbers are true, and free movies i'm sure don't count for sale numbers, then the attach rate is low.
It only averages a little more than 3 discs sold per player.

As to how many movies are givin away? In the U.S. it's been a lot, not sure worldwide if they have givin away more than they have sold.

Some do for Nielsen. The ones that get scanned. I'm guessing these numbers are the same way. For instance, free discs included with the PS3 that are separate (not in the box) and not by rebate through the mail, as well as 3 of the 10 that were offered with Toshiba players recently (the other 7 don't count because 2 are the box and 5 are by mail).

Well lets face it thanks to all the Bogo deals for BR is a big reason they are in the lead then..

I dont think that Nielsen counts Walmart and the 10 free buy PS3 since they were scanned or do they?
