If the BD-P3600 is superior to the BD-P1600 and the cost for the BD-P3600 is $399 and includes the Wireless Dongle. Why pay $299 for the BD-P1600 and another $82 for the Dongle separately. That comes to $381 and the 3600 is only $18 more

Just purchased this player my self, and am very happy with it. I've been using a PS3 the past year for by bluray watching. The BD-1600 to me looks alot better, I have it connected to a samsung 46" 650...on 24hz. I have had no problems with it. I ended up buying a powerline network adapter. If you dont know what this is then go to best buy and look at them. I think they are fairly new. It basically make you power outlets have internet capability. It was that or buy the toggle that everyone complaining about. When I bought my BD-1600 they told me that the netgear "toggle" "doggle" whatever, worked with it. How they know that, I dont know. For some of you, it might be something worth trying. Good luck!!

So much Samsung hate here
![]() Well I guess I'd hate them too if I had been through any of the crap some of you are claiming. Personally i have had zero problems with my BD-P1400. It has played every disc I have thrown at it flawlessly be it BD or DVD. |

Can you chose Bitstream Audophile in the audio setup if you use a optical connection it says that Bitstream RE Encode is recommened for optical but its a lower audio quality. It reencodes the audio to dts bitsream. I like the Bitstream Audophile better than the bitream reencode but it says reencode is recommened if you dont have hdmi audio receiver

FWIW, I just purchased that player yesterday. The guys at BB said that for the wireless, I could use the vudu wireless kit. So I picked up the vudu kit for $79 and hooked it up last night and it works great - there is a wireless dongle that hooks up to the player, then another one that plugs into your router. So far, I have been pleased with the whole set up - wireless works fine. Streaming video is quick, at least the Netflix instant movie. It does seem like it wouldn't be that tough for Samsung to include that in for the price but...

Yep, $79 for the vudu contraption. But it works well and it saved me the headache of drilling holes in floors and running cable to get to the box. That would have taken 2 hours of work to get that done. For $79, it took 3 minutes and worked right out of the box. For me, that was money well spent :-).

The Vudu wireless kit worked for me as well. Make sure the Blu-ray settings are for cable and not a wireless connection during setup. Streaming movies work great as well even with my DSL/2 mbps rate with no interuptions so far. Not HD video quality, but will suffice and much faster than the Vudu box. Actually was surprised with the streaming quality of the Netflix instant video. I'm glad I was able to make use of some of the hardware from the otherwise frustrating Vudu hardware I recently purchased.
Playing mp3's from the blu-ray players's thumbdrive is quirky and a bit slow with commands, but will also suffice for continuous play. Now I can relax and watch a movie! Last edited by extramatic; 03-28-2009 at 10:28 PM. |

Is there any reason you couldn't use your laptop's wireless antenna and plug a USB cable from it to the Blu-ray player in order to stream Netflix?
