I think that's how it always is when you are renting.

Anyone remember going to the blockbuster, Hollywood video, or independent store finding out the the movies you wanted to rent are all out? Then the people who were lucky enough to get them say they haven't had a problem? It's just luck and timing when it comes to rentals. There will always be someone not getting their movie and having to wait a few days or weeks for it. Although with Netflix I did have issues waiting months for some blu-rays. If it's a movie a movie I just want to rent I wait a week or two and drive to the blockbuster and they always have it. For some reason it's been easier now to find something at a blockbuster location. Maybe cause everyone else is doing it online?

I am starting to believe this. My six year anniversary with them is in January. I sent 5 movies in on Monday and the first available was 15 movies down the list even though 2 said they were available "Now" before they processed AND after they processed as well. I shouldn't have spouted off earlier in this thread...

they are sending me Prince Caspian today., my wife will be happy . I always keep plenty of older movies/shows in my queue so it's not that big of a deal if I miss out on a new release.

I can't complain for such a reasonable membership price. I know people who spend more on McDonald's in a week than I do on my membership all month

Thats right. and besides, i obviously want to see the new releases first, but all in all, i want to see any and all movies in my queue, so not getting a new release is no big thing for me...

I actually called them about a week ago. I had 12 movies in my queue, all but one were Blurays. I had one DVD and it was in the last place in my queue - guess what I got To make matters even worse, they finally sent me one of my blurays after two days, but it came from Washington state and I live in VA!!!!!

When I called, this guy was like, "Yeah, you just have a lot of new releases in there, try adding some older movies...." I told him that I had 12 movies in my queue and that they should at least be able to get two of them to me in a timely fashion and it didn't go very well. When I asked if I they would be getting more Blurays in stock since we have to pay a premium now, I got a big fat NO. I'm not cancelling, but if I have to micro-manage my queue so that only the Blurays I want each week are in there then I will.

I put my account with Netflix on hold. I was used to being throttled. I was used to having DVDs and Blu Rays sent from freakin' Washington state when I live in Minnesota so it would take a week to receive my movie.

When they announced the $1 increase for Blu Rays because of "higher costs", I thought, "Umm, I've received more than a few broken or scratched/unplayable DVDs, but ALL of the Blu Ray discs from them have played perfectly. If I wanted to burn myself a copy of a DVD, I could do it without much effort - not so with Blu Ray. I don't see the cost being significantly higher to NOW justify a price hike." However, I read the forums here and read how those who objected to the price hike were dubbed "whiners" - after all, even with the price hike, Blu Ray rental via Netflix was still a bargain, and since we had no local Blu Ray rentals, I couldn't argue with that. Plus, the optimists figured that "We're paying that extra dollar, so the service should improve, right?"

Guess what? I've experienced even longer delays, and now our Movie Gallery has started carrying Blu Rays. Is the selection as good? Of course not. But the SERVICE kicks the crap out of Netflix.

I've been a long time Netflix user, and at times been very happy with their service, but over time it seems they've prioritized crappy quality instantly watchable downloads over speedy service and delivery of flawless Blu Rays to my door. They have 90 days before I cancel my account outright, and I would love to have them do SOMETHING to win me back.

I've had a few wierd things happen like serial tv shows that get sent out of order and they have always sent out the correct disk the next day and credited it as an extra disk so I would have 4 movies instead of 3. I always liked how they handled the problems I had with them.

You guys should watch older movies though, a lot of the new stuff is just garbage.

Sorry to read some of the experiences here. It has been going fairly smoothly for me since I suspended my membership this past summer cause I don't watch movies much then.

The funny thing is many of the "happy" Netflix users will call you cheap for your legitimate complaint. I'm surprised no one has done so yet.

Tropic Thunder is OK if you take it for the extreme satire that it is going for...

I recently switched from Netflix to BB, not really becuase I was getting bad service from NF, just becuase I wanted to take advantage of the BB "swap at the store" option. I must say I really like it. In fact the BB near me just started carrying BDs and I find whenever I go in there they have plenty in stock. I had the Incredible Hulk and Tropic Thunder in my queue, both were listed as "very long wait", but then I was able to get them immediately in the store for a mere $1.99 when I took back The Happening and Beerfest (that I got from BB online) on seperate occasions. I think its great so far. And a dollar cheaper than Netflix.

Also, I rarely have the opportunity to watch more than 1 BD per week, so the one at a time plan works really well for me. If I should happen to find myself with enough time to watch a BD on both Friday and Saturday or Sunday night in the same weekend, with BB I can do it still with the "one at a time" plan. With Netflix "one at a time plan" there is no way -- if I wanted to watch a second blu ray in a weekend, I would have to go to Blockbuster and rent it for $5...
