Aside from the obvious campus fight (Incredible Hulk) and pretty much the last hour of Transformers, Flight of the Phoenix has some seriously low bass. I nearly s**t my pants the last time I watched the scene where the plane spirals upside down in the sand storm

Mine definitely tries its hardest!

Although I'm sure it's well past -6dB at that point even at 45% gain.

One or two scenes are measured at 5Hz!

Rocket Blast Blows Out of Tunnel; 105-108 dB: Talk about infrasonics - this sequence has strong content right down to 5 Hz! This is another extremely demanding passage where I could induce some output compression if I pushed the Servo-15 too hard. At about 10 clicks under Dolby Reference Level, the Servo-15 sounded great on this scene, cleanly digging to below 20 Hz with authority. As bass heads and fans of this DVD will attest, the rocket lift-off sounds eerily lifelike with the right subwoofer. The Servo-15 nailed all the subtle nuances and sound effects – especially the knocking and rattling sound effect toward the end of this passage.

I think I mentioned this before and it's on DVD not bluray.
The end credits for BattleStar Galactica, Just about anyone of them.
I kinda remember them not having it on 1 or 2 disc, but anyway, The drums that are used IIIIIIIIII LOOOOVE IT !!!!!!

Not sure if it both subs doing it making that great effect....

Its like a few short short small bass hits then 2 quick BOOM BOOOOMMMM ...
and repeats a few times

  • and of course... Super Bark!
Best part! I thought the same thing as you when I watched bolt and could not believe that no one had mentioned it yet in the bolt thread.

I uhh, actually watched Rambo II and III since I'd only watched I, and I have yet to get around to IV - I just got home from now from being on campus doing HW, and for the sake of my roommates, I usually don't watch anything loud past 11pm. It'll have to be put off til the weekend - although I am setting up my 2nd sub tomorrow as well, this might be a great movie to test it with...

Good choice. I watched The Incredible Hulk again tonight with my son. There is a a couple of seriously low LFE moments in that movie. Definitely add it to the must watch list.

That whole second chapter was just great!

I love how it does the sweet little introduction where she finds Bolt in the pet store... then "5 Years Later"... WHAM!

Has anyone else mentioned Kung Fu Panda yet?
The "Skadoosh" scene shakes my entire living room, and the chapter where Tai Long escapes from prison has some great moments too!

I know! My wife wanted this movie (we love dogs), and I was like, OH here we go, a sweet little disney film, and suddenly, ACTION! Definitely a great film, and better than most Disney (not Pixar) Computer Animated films.

I'll agree that Kung Fu Panda has some fun low-end stuff happening!
An impressive BR in every way.

If anyone owns The World is Not Enough, I was surprised by scenes 25 and 29, they had quite a bit of bass. Scene 25 is the helicopter attack scene and 29 is the submarine dive scene. Watch the whole scenes. The movie overall though has a great track. DTS-HD MA.

You know what I never thought of throwing in until this week, after having my new sub for months? The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. I kid you not, there is aggressive low end all over this movie that was way too low to be heard with my old sub. And when the Vogon fleet arrives to destroy the Earth, it actually sounded like a Vogon fleet had arrived to destroy my house.

This one totally surprised me!
